Thanksgiving evening my son wanted to shoot some tree rats instaed of deer and after an hr and a half he was back with 9 of 'em. Limit is 10 per day here. Cleaned up and in the freezer. Boil them for about 10-15 mins then season to your liking and put em in a slow cooker or better yet IMO, put 'em o...

I agree most likely it wasn't a yote. If you shoot anything here in my area and don't recover it that night, forget it. You'll be lucky to find much hide or bone let alone most of the animal. :(

Way to go! Nice rifle. Those pumps pack the same wallop as a bolt action and are faster and easier to load the next round. I still get the buck/doe fever on most every deer that comes my way and I love it! If I ever lose that feeling then some of the best parts of my hunts will just seem routine and...

In Texas, hunting food plots, corn/protein feeders, natural or commercial baits/lures has always been a way of life for all of my 50 years here. I hunt using feeders on my property and am not ashamed to say so. When the acorns are dropping though I will hunt the thickest areas of acorns on the groun...

Nice buck and a great story to top it off! Good for you to ask for help and staying persistent in the tracking.

Surely you gave New Guy a backstrap for his help.... Right?

Good choice Stalker. If the shot doesn't seem or feel right then hold off like you did. You're time's coming. Being successful at the spot and stalk is something that few of us can manage with any kind of bow. My hat's off to you. In my younger days, I was "fairly" decent at it but this wo...

This is definitely one of the best threads I have read. I feel for all of ya'll who's State, or Country for that matter, doesn't feel like it's politically correct or whatever to deny the freedom as a responsible parent to allow their young'uns to learn, respect, and enjoy the way of life we were tau...

By all means, start them out young. I had my son with me every chance I could since he was in diapers. Not hunting at that age but with me on my 4 wheeler scouting around and just overall having him outdoors with me learning natures ways. pydpiper, what you are doing with your son is awesome! Nice p...
