I felt like it was the right choice. It was a tough one, being the first deer the Vortex has laid eyes on. No part of me wanted to end up wounding the deer and losing it. Nor did I want my first crossbow harvest to be a lucky shot or a nightmare. Thanks for the great community we have here, I learn ...

Today, was almost the day

I had a nice doe come out today dead on 8:30am. It came out right where I suspected I might see something should something present itself, however she stayed behind some small Alder bushes and a 6 foot spindley Juniper. After a minute or two she knew something wasn't right and tailed up and left rel...

I thought I may need glasses too, but my eyesight checked out fine. Turns out I had high blood sugar.

I guess it's the same deal, I only do it because it's the way I was shown, and have always seen.

I can see some benefits now that I think about it. I don't have reasons for the way I do it, I was just curious if others do.

Hanging deer

I have hung all of my deer by the hind legs, as did my father and his father before him. As does just about anyone I can think of that i know personally.

I see a lot of pics where the deer is hung by the rack/neck, do you skin the deer this way too? Any particular reason?

thanks guys, like I said it was more of an update of how my season is unfolding. I don't have much crossbow wisdom to share due to lack of experience but I love the interaction of this group and enjoy being a part of it.

Thanks for the insight, chuckles and encouragement.

I need the forum witchdoctor.

I think I am jinxed, or my Vortex. I've been in my blind for 4 mornings and only 1 eve. The first morn(just before sun-up) of the season I saw a really good silhouette, the wind wasn't great and up went the tail and gone...couldn't tell if it was a buck or a doe, it ran about 25yds and stopped and m...

It's the only crossbow case i've ever owned. It's a bit sloppy fitting, it's thick and has a massive zipper that has yet to fetch up like some gun cases/coats i've owned in past years. Overall it does the job, I'd prefer it fit the crossbow a bit better, but it's very well made and the storage is gr...

Vortex - Just over a week, but I had a nice browning compound a number of years ago. Crossbows have only recently been permitted here in Nova Scotia. I'm loving it, I'm rolling with all the defaults with my "right stuff" package until I figure out what upgrades are a must, if any, seems to...
