Many thanks for all of the information! :D

the problem is NOT over-penetration, it is the foam melting onto the carbon shaft. Sounds like lubing the shaft should work - although WD-40 did NOT work.............

What target works for carbon bolts?

OK I took out my new-to-me Exocet 200 with the Firebolt carbon bolts and field points, to sight it in. I was using my foam target cube that I have been shooting into forever, with both field points and broadheads (literally hundreds of shots)............ ..........and the bolts basically MELTED the ...

Southeastern Ontario (Kingston area) there is very little sign yet but this coming week should be hot. There are some rubs and scrapes, and limited reports of bucks chasing does. The last three years the rut has been after the gun season, and that is happening again this year.

Got a fabulous explanation for FOC from awshucks, many thanks! :D

Looks like I will be sighting in this bow with the Boltcutters, as soon as the gun season is over. Six weeks of bow season left and (so far) another couple tags to fill!

Goop is good stuff. I repaired my winter (rubber) hunting boots with a good dollop of it about four years ago and it held just fine.

back to sumner4991.........thanks for the welcome. :D I was here before but could not recall my user name, and all that data would be in a hard drive that met its maker a couple years ago. Looks like the same bunch of really good folks on here as there were before. As for me, I am older, grey...

Excellent, that is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping to get. With the Thunderheads I get a pass-through 99% of the time, and a very good blood trail better than 50% of the time. They really seem to open the deers up like a tap. So I have been loath to switch. But maybe this old dog can learn...

Any actual experience with Excalibur broadheads?

I have been bow-hunting for about thirty years, all of it with various crossbows. A long time ago I found a broadhead that REALLY works for me, and have used it pretty much exclusively ever since. FWIW that is the Thunderhead three-blade 125 grain. I have been shooting an Exocet for a number of year...
