Re: Canned hunts
So are you suggesting it doesn't really happen and they doctored the tapes to prove a point that doesn't exist?ninepointer wrote:What you have described would obviously be repulsive to real hunters. But just remember that what you saw was an animal rights propoganda video.

Re: Yearly Youth Handmade Call Give Away
Cool idea. Please put my 14 year old son, Noah in the mix. He'll be sitting out with me this year, both of us armed with Phoenixes.
Thanks for the opportunity.

That was awesome! I actually jumped when the can exploded because I wasn't expecting the outcome.
Nice shot. Did you do it more than once?

Re: Newbie stuff and a question
Elmer, I'm just north of you in Calhoun Co. I drive down I-69 many times and am just amazed at how many deer hang out in the fields along the highway. You shouldn't have any problem picking one out. I actually hunt north in Barry Co. Last year I plucked my first deer with a crossbow, my Phoenix. Thi...

Wait until you come home from work and see a little yellow stickie note on your front door stating how the UPS man was there but couldn't leave the package unattended, but you can pick it up the next day between 9 and 5 Try to sleep on that

Re: I don't get it?
Who cares? I want deer in my freezer and the time to spend in the woods, scouting, sitting in a tree, hanging out with my son, watching the geese fly by, watching a sunset, etc. It's not a "game" that I can "cheat" at. It's a lifestyle.

Re: What is this
Kind of looks like a Green Heron, also known as a Green Backed Heron. Probably not a male. Either a juvenile or a female.

Re: Sunday Hunting
Yeah, I think Michigan is pretty much all Sunday hunting allowed. I think one of the last holdouts was Hillsdale County in SW Michigan but they've since voted to repeal that for the most part. I've lived in Michigan, as an Ohio transplant, since 1984 and have always been able to hunt on Sunday. In O...

The punishment could be tougher but it's very creative. Reporting to jail for the duration of deer season for 4 years. Classic.

Re: Bolts or Arrows?
I call them bolts because I want to. Plus I like the word "bolt" over "arrow". I think it sounds cooler. Cupid shoots 'arrows" but Thor, the Norse god of Thunder and son of Odin, played with "bolts". Bolts are cooler. Oh yeah, and popcorn's cool too

Re: Hunting Gobblers From Treestand
In Michigan you can only hunt turkeys from an elevated platform, using a bow or crossbow. Gun hunters must stay on the ground. None the less, I've never tried it, although I've had turkeys walk underneath me during deer season, close enough to take one.

Re: Come to a 3D shoot, well, not you!
I would go back and inquier more about the insurance thing. Ask him to clarify what he means. Who's there insurance provider? Is it a "poundage" thing? Do they only allow bows with a certain max fps? Is it just there club or is it a state thing or a federal thing, etc.? I would just ask a ...
