Re: Floods

Very good point shotnbeer ! All them crocs n snakes usually isolated to the creek areas will be in the same body of water as everyone else now  The snakes will be trying to get into the same refuge as the people, onto the debris above water !! Like they haven't got enough to worry about with ...

Re: How do you cock your bow?

When I first bought the equinox (with no rope cocker) I done it by hand. Had no choice. Very hard work. Had to wait week for the cocker to arrive. Cocking by hand, my aim was unsteady quickly, because of the energy wasted cocking each shot. But after finding this forum, I realized why I wasn't as ac...

Re: Floods

Hi, The worst part seems to be the eastern area in Queensland. Like you say, its one hell of a big area. Luckily I'm in the West. There are also floods in West Aust, in the Canarvon area. I flew over them on the way out to this oil platform I'm working on. It looked odd, as this is normally a very d...

Re: Quieting the bow

Thats true, a quality string with whiskers gives a noticable difference. But when testing the sts, it didn't make as much difference on my equinox. It was less noticable to me than rubber fitted on my Stirop, which is why I took the sts off in the end. I've got it at a point where I'm happy with it ...

Re: Quieting the bow

I don't care about hunting noise. I think most people agree thats not usually an issue, not here anyway. For me, its for my own sake when doing a lot of target work, my partner, and my neighbors whom I want to keep getting along with. Without the high end metal twang now, the sounds not offensive an...

Re: Newby

"Hi Mate, welcome,
Check out the recent post labeled "Exomax" by "Sandow".
It covers most of the points you need to think about when choosing your first excalibur. Best of luck to ya

Re: exomax

Sandow, when we use the term "lighter poundage crossbow" it isn't so accurate. 150-175 pounds is not exactly "Light". More than adequate to get the job done. As Vixchix said, the serving on the string will wear or seperate quicker definately. I found out the indoor comp this year...

Re: exomax

Whatever excalibur you get you'll be happy with it ! I'll try not to push you one way or the other. Just some tips in choosing. But as a general rule the Vortex, Exomax, Equinox models are a lot heavier to draw back. Unless your very short, that should be no problem. For hunting you'll use only a co...

Re: Quieting the bow

I gave up on the mission to quiet the equinox. Wasn't too ímpressed with the sts and have since taken it off. I prefer to keep the bow light as possible, and to me the difference was minimal. Like another user, after a lot of testing I too noticed a reasonable difference in rubber (2 small 1" p...

Re: Vixen master takes up bird hunting

The last time over 1000's of birds died suddenly in a town in West Australia , the government said people shouldn't be alarmed. Theres probably a perfectly logical explanation ! After a longwinded coverup, It turned out to be Lead Poisoning from the local shipping port loading facility. Lead dust co...

Re: Rail Silicone

I've been using food grade silicon gel/grease from work. Awesome lubricant to protect the realtree skin on the equinox rail. One small dab on a cue tip appied evenly to the rail is enough. Wipe off any excess. Even if all gell is wiped off the rail with a rag, it still feels better lubricated than a...

Re: Happy new year everyone !

I like that one tired rooster.... It was the perfect storm ! Hey missin, the bigger it gets, the longer we're at home  Backwoods, Toytruck, I also lost my younger brother at the start of the year. It seems like that set a whole heap of bad luck in motion for the rest of the year. I would...

Happy new year everyone !

May you all have the best of luck and good health in the new year :!: I've been stuck on an oil rig for weeks now over Christmas and my birthday, and wasn't too happy about it. Luck finally came in the way of a tropical cyclone ! We were all evacuated back home just in time for new years. Wh...
