Re: How to kill this monster
First, don't use the ATV. Second, now that does will be coming into estrus soon, if not already, he's probably roaming to see which girls are ready for a date. One trick I like is sitting on a fresh scrape right after a rain. My theory is that the bucks know that it washes/dulls their scent out and ...

Re: sexist????????
Maybe some of the reason no one specifies gender when mentioning squirrels or other fur-bearers are that both sexes look the same...I know when using archery equipment, any deer is an accomplishment. During rifle season I usually wait for a nice buck because we have so many deer and I get tired of c...

Re: Effective Crossbow Yardage
It all depends on the deers state of alertness and how far you can shoot accurately. Another thing to consider is that penetration tends to fade as distances increase and if you're using fixed blades or mechanicals. Arrow weight is another factor effecting penetration. I too shoot an Exomax and FOR...

Help with Velocity
I need some help with determining velocity. Does anyone know what the ball park velocity is of an Exomax(2010) with the factory string shooting Firebolts with 125gr heads? Is it reasonable to say it would be halfway between the 100gr and 150gr heads? I don't have a chronograph and would appreciate ...

Re: deer and bear
Either that deer had been there awhile or the bear was right behind him when he got hit since the deer is still alive when the bear finds him. Sometimes the Highway Patrol will dispatch a wounded wild animal if one is found at the crash site...Yeah someone should go ahead and kill the deer instead ...

Re: Whats the best Archery Rangefinder?
One thing to consider is the closet range it will register yardage and if it has the ARC function which factors in shot angle into the range measurement. But since most shots will be 40-50yds and closer then most will do OK. Most rangefinders work well in close but the more expensive ones start to ...

Normally, the top turret is for elevation(up/down) and the side turret is for windage(left/right).Does it hold zero OK?

Re: Help with excalibur Crossbow questions from experienced
OK-I'm still using the string that comes with the Exomax. It stretched alittle but the serving still looks good. I think the key is waxing the serving often. Be sure that the rail(where the arrow rides) is clean.

Re: Help with excalibur Crossbow questions from experienced
What model did you go with? When my Exomax came the string serving was right at the upper reference mark(closest to scope). Now after a dry fire and several subsequent shots its right at 1 1/8" from where the rail and riser meet which is where most on here said theirs are..

Re: Waxing Question/Broadhead Alignment
Sounds good. I hunt in Plymouth on a 11,000 ac Weyerhauser track that we dog hunt alot. I think some may have misunderstood what I wrote about the hogs. I said it looked like where hogs had been rooting and we don't have any hogs meaning the deer have tore up the area.

Re: String jumping . . .
IMO any discussion of deer jumping the string has to consider the deer's anxiety state at the shot. A deer that is stopped with a "blaaat" etc is in a flight-ready state. The next noise it hears triggers the avoidance response. That response may well be to the SIGHT of the arrow, as well ...

Re: apples and deer
I have two pear trees in my yard and the pears that don't end up as preserves are dumped out for deer. They'll eat a 5 gallon bucket a night.
