Re: Wet Bow

I never let my bow get close to the wood stove but after towel drying did stick it in the same room where the air is dryer. I stuck a Q-tip into the slots and everything seemed to have dried out pretty quickly. The season ends here tomorrow so I'll take the stock off for a look then. Thanks for the ...

Wet Bow

Up here in southwest British Columbia we get our share of wet and I have hunted in wet weather before. However, today we got really dumped on and my Exocet got soaked. Normally I towel dry the bow when I come in, put a little WD 40 on the screw heads, and Dalton the string when it is dry. However, t...

Re: Broadhead Questions

I was shooting G-5 Montecs for several years with good success but this year could not get any type of consistency with the same arrows and same broadheads used last year. An instructor at my club suggested trying mechanicals. I was hesitant about using a mechanical because of all the talk about rel...

Re: horrible feeling

Reading your post sounded like what happened to me just this week. I had what I thought was a good solid broadside hit right behind the front leg and he ran off with the arrow sticking out of his side. All my previous shots have been pass throughs and this has been my worst fear since I started hunt...

Re: Got a Question - More Big Bucks This Year?

Where I am in British Columbia I have only seen a couple bucks all season including the dink I got over the weekend. Figured with the end of our season coming up he was good enough. The rut seems pretty late this year up here.

Re: Hunting in the rain

One thing about the west coast of Canada is that in the fall and winter if you wait for the rain to quit or slack up you'll be waiting until somewhere around July

Re: age

I turned 56 last week. My brain says I'm about 37 but I keep seeing my father in the mirror. By the way, I got my Excal and took up hunting just last season. It was something I always wanted to do and figured it was about time.

Re: Hunting in the rain

Thanks for the advice. I am getting older too and no fan of being out in the rain or cold but I am still looking at an empty freezer and only a few weeks left. I am usually a walk and stalk but I think the pop up blind is a good idea.

Hunting in the rain

The end of the season is only a few weeks off here in my part of British Columbia. I have been out for at least a little almost every day and I am just now starting to see some movement in the bucks. Long range weather forecast is for rain or snow almost every day for the next two weeks so if I want...

Re: Piece of my Excalibur equiptment I hate the most.

I did not like the Excal quiver either and did not like carrying more stuff in my hands or a bag. I went with an inexpensive hip quiver I found made by a company called E.W. Bateman in Texas that holds four arrows. I have dedicated an old belt for it so I can just strap it on like a gun belt. Using ...

Dalton's String Conditioner

Because so many of you here have said they liked Dalton’s string conditioner I have been looking for some for quite a while. Today I found it in a small archery store and wanted some advice. I have been using the Excal wax on my center serving but no place else on the string. Should I put the Dalton...

Re: String Question

Thanks for the info. The old eyes are not what they used to be and I had to use a magnifying glass to tell but the servings on my new string were a clockwise twist and I put in three on the string. The string is a bit high so I'll go off to do some string stretching this afternoon.

String Question

After a good long life I finally had to replace the original Excel Dacron string on my Exocet 200. I had another new Excel string and put it on the bow but have a few questions. Should the Excel string have twists when put on and which way should I twist the string to get maximum serving life. Also,...

Firebolt question

I picked up a new box of Firebolts last week for use during the season and noticed something a bit different when I got them home. It looks like the vanes have been put on at the factory with a bit of an offset (tail end a bit lower than tip end when holding arrow horizontal ). On last year's arrows...
