Re: Hold down tab
Had the same issue as others before with accidentally bending the retainer. While fixing it yesterday I noticed that the front mounting screw on the arrow retainer seemed to allow for adjustment of the retainer -- tightened all the way down I was touching the rail, but backed out the screw a bit and...

Re: Stripped scope mount screws... !
Turns out I was able to get the screws out without having to dremel. On the 2 damaged screws, only the tops were stripped out -- was able to seat a hex bit with a few mallet taps, applied some heat, and was able to break them free. Thanks for the help guys! Question now is if I should keep the fancy...

Stripped scope mount screws... !
Was restringing my bow a few weeks back and unfortunately didn't pay attention to which side of the arrow retainer the stringer was on -- long story short, bent the hell out of the retainer. Left it for a rainy day to fix, and well today is that said rainy day. Attempted to bend it back with the mou...

Re: sad way to start a new year ( OT )
My condolences to you, Dutch, and everyone else who has lost someone to drug abuse. Have a family member that has gone through hell the past few years due to an addicted spouse. Hasn't resulted in any death, but I can begin to see the effect addiction has on a family. While it is indeed a tragedy, I...

Re: Looking for a tree stand harness
I was wondering though why the guy in the video didn't simply get back to his climbing stick to get back to the stand? My thoughts exactly. The majority (>95%) of the stands I hunt have climbing sticks, and I figure that in a fall I could manage my way back to the sticks and problem solved. Carry a...

Re: Looking for a tree stand harness
Looks like Cabela's has a $20 off coupon on all orders over $120 good through tonight. The Pro series is a bit more than I wanted though the reversible vest should fit the bill nicely... also does away with needing a separate vest for firearm season. Includes the deer drag/suspension relief strap an...

Looking for a tree stand harness
Have been using a cheapo harness that a friend gave me... and while it works, it leaves a lot to be desired in both form and function. Was wondering if anyone had recommendations on what to look for? Have been looking at the HSS harnesses and was wondering if there is a huge difference between the d...

Looking for new camo (waterproof and QUIET)
Starting to get tired of my current camo setup -- it's less than a year old but I'm finding more and more things I dislike about it -- would work great for blind hunting, but all mine is from a stand. So... I'm looking for something that is waterproof, not too bulky and most importantly QUIET. Curre...

Re: Optimal sling setup?
Got my other sling setup finished and am thinking it should hopefully work. Here are a few pictures ... first two show a portion of the sling and my masterful sling mount (paracord and keyring wrapped in duct tape to cut down on noise :)), and the third is my high tech spare battery holder :) For th...

Re: Optimal sling setup?
I'll have to try carrying it upright and see how it goes. Currently have the quick detach quiver and have been able to carry with it on the bow -- with it on, it causes the bow to shift a bit and more or less ends up along my right side, usually end up grabbing the rail with my right hand to steady ...

Optimal sling setup?
Curious as to how many here use a sling on their Excal, and what kind of sling/setup do you use? Last weekend (first time in the woods w/ my Phoenix) I used the padded 2-point sling, and unfortunately was a bit less than pleased -- not really due to the sling itself, just rather the nature of carryi...

Expanding foam BH/field target?
On the heels of the peat moss target review EOTR recently posted, I got to thinking of other media that could be used for targets. Have seen quite a few sites on the web recommending boxes or bags stuffed with sand/plastic bags/rags, etc. but was wondering if anybody has tried using expanding foam? ...

Re: Anyone use a red dot?
I don't doubt that a red dot can shoot tight groups, but rather the issue I'm concerned with is when I'm in the field hunting, specifically with targets at different distances. Red dots do allow for quick target acquisition, but do leave quite a bit of guess work when it comes to hold-over when the ...

Anyone use a red dot?
Curious if anybody here uses a single red dot on their crossbow? Just picked up a Phoenix Red Dot package (out of stock on the bare bow or varizone package) and am wondering how useful a single POA would be for hunting (mainly whitetail)? I picked up a spare set of the fiber optic sights which I hav...
