Talked to Excalibur this morning and the limbs are machine ground to size them before the tips are installed. The finish is put on the tips and limbs at the same time. It's not unusual for the finish to come off the trimmed area (like mine). Has no effect on limbs or performance and doesn't mean tip...

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't know enough about the way the limb and limb tips were joined to know if that was what I was seeing or not. Due to the rotator cuffs finally giving up I went to a crossbow this year. This forum had a lot to do with me buying an Excalibur. Most of the stuff on here...

Thanks for the reply - I bought Excalibur for function, dependability, simplicity and reputation. No interest in looks except what one would expect for a hunting crossbow. I just got my Equinox a little over a month ago and noticed today that where the limb goes into the tip on the right side, the limbs have been chamfered about 45 degrees on both sides to maybe trim the limbs enough to fit into the tips. I think they are 1.5 or a little larger than 39 mm. I just went into the store and asked to bring my Crossbow in and get somebody to help me fit them. That works best.
