Re: Early spring weather = early turkey breeding?
Thanks for the responses guys. This will give me some time to adjust my tactics before the opener. Last year was my first season turkey hunting and we decoyed and called on all of our hunts. Excal was used with success. I've never run and gunned or spotted and stalked turkey. Spot and stalk seems se...

Early spring weather = early turkey breeding?
Hey Everyone, We are having unseasonably warm weather in my neck of the woods and I'm wondering how this will affect the wild turkey breeding cycles. Will they be breeding sooner? If so will this make them harder to hunt in April/May? I've read that their breeding cycles are governed by day length a...

Re: Processing your own deer
Cool post. My wife and I butchered the 3 deer I harvested this year and had a great time doing it. This is also bit ironic because when we met over five years ago she wasn't really a red meat eater. She is now though! However, I couldn't convince her to try a little raw portion of the backstra...

Congratulations to you guys. Enjoy your tasty button buck. Great pic, too. Deer must seem to be HUGE when you're a kid.

Thanks for posting the link.
I knew coyotes would/could kill younger deer, but I never considered that they could pick apart a mature buck like that...

Re: O/T - What do you do for a living?
I got my degree in Massage Therapy in Colorado in 2002, then studied Traditional Osteopathy in Toronto for a year in '06-'07. (I really like Canada! :) ) I recently stepped back from a busy and stressful private practice to spend quality time with the wife, hunt, fish and get a fresh perspective. I'...

Re: 11 Acre 8 Pointer
Congrats! He's a nice one, especially for a first buck! My first was a basket-racked 6 with a rifle, and a small 4 pt with a bow. As with so many other things in life, you'll always remember the first. Thanks a lot, Big58cal. I'm the first hunter in my family for a number of generations and ...
