Re: Boat Access Only
We had a private farm that had hunted for 15 years. Lost the lease a few years ago. Started looking for another place to hunt on some public land around a lake. First step was to drive around the land to see where it was accessible by vehicle. I then started looking at places that needed a boat to a...

Mounting Nikon Bolt XR on Exocet 200
After several years of hunting, my Lumi-zone scope has some problems so I decided to replace it. I ordered a Vari-zone scope from Amazon but decided to look at some other options. That eventually led me to the Nikon Bolt XR (I already have Nikons on my hunting rifles and muzzleloader). I mounted the...

Trigger tech mounting
My Trigger Tech Hunter trigger assembly and the red trigger arrived Friday. Excellent product. I ran into a problem when I tried to remove the scope mount. The scope mount is held on with four Allen head screws. I was able to get two out but not the other two, the Allen sockets stripped out. I ended...

Re: Why aren't the Excalibur broadheads more popular on here
I lost two deer this year with X-Act expandable broad heads. It was late and blood trails were not real good. Switched to Hammerhead 100s with 2" cutting circle and watched the next three deer drop 40 yards from stand. Maybe I need to be a better shot.

Spitfire73 ...
I have used the Spitfires but I like the 2" cutting circle that the Hammerheads produce. You may be a better shot than me and I need that extra margin of error!

Re: Getting the dust off an Phoenix for squirrel season..
I used to hunt squirrels with my compound. Blunts will shoot through rabbits but they just knock squirrels out of the tree, then they run off. Shot one with a target point once and the squirrel ran off with the arrow in it. Get the points with the little springs that stick out and they will work fin...

Use two rubber bands with expandables
Last week, I missed a clean, ranged, 40 yard shop. Missed deer completely. Later in the morning, I killed a buck at 21 yards. I am using Rocket Hammerhead 100aps that open up to a 2" cutting circle. Upon examining the entry and exit of the broadhead, it was obvious that the broadhead had expand...

Re: Hunting Public Land
We had a farm leased for 15 years that was pretty good. After losing the lease, I started looking around at public land and found that most lakes have public hunting areas. One of the lakes I have fished for years has about 4,000 acres of public hunting. I got a map of the area and drove all the way...

Re: Range vs. Soybean Field
I missed a doe shot at 40 yards last week and I had ranged it with the Vendetta (which compensates for angle). I don't know what happened but I found the arrow and it had nothing but dirt on it! Going again in the morning. Probably last trip out as next weekend the muzzleloaders will be out followed...

Re: range finder advice
I just mounted the Leupold Vendetta on my Exocet and could not be happier. It is not the cheapest rangefinder on the market, but is well worth the money.

Re: First Time Crossbow Hunting 2003 Exocet
Congratulations on your crossbow kill. This is my third season with the Exocet and it is an excellent crossbow. I have had the best luck with quick kills by using the Rocket Aerohead Hammerhead 100's. They are an expandable and open up to a 2" cutting circle. I shot a doe on Sunday morning and ...

Re: just aint seeing any deer..
Hang in there. The second season I archery hunted (about 20 years ago), I killed the biggest deer I had ever seen in the woods. I had not seen a deer in the previous three weeks prior to that afternoon. I killed a doe this last Sunday morning right at the break of day. Saw five deer total. One deer ...
