something seems wrong about that to me.

I keep my wax in my shooting kit, and apply it directly before a shooting session. If I shoot for an extended period, I apply some when ever I get a chance to take a break. I never put any on after shooting. Although I do like the idea of the warm string..... maybe I will start waxing after shooting...
