It's true bait doesn't work all that well. You need to start baiting really early and the bait needs to match what ever forage they are eating. Baiting with apples only works if they are on apples. The best bait will do is make them use a certain run over other possible runs. It's not like baiting b...

Slow near FErgus as well! Lots of shots around us but the deer seem to return to the same fields every night. I thought the pressure might push them into quieter areas of the bush but not yet. I have the same problem with a buck. I'm sure he is moving only at night and that's why I keep missing him....

Send a few my Daniele! I like your idea of reasonable hunting hours as well.

Must of heard 30 shots between dawn and 8:30. Somebody had some luck! Though it might move the deer my way but nothin'. I wonder how many tags are filled the first day.

Judging by the number of shotgun blasts (across the bush in a corn field) at dawn I would saythe deer were in corn fields at dawn. I'm hunting the run in between the food and the bedding. That explains why I see deer in late morning and early afternoon but not at dawn.

The same thing happened to me at the start of the season. My string had stretched about 3/4 of an inch (past the line on the bow) and man did I ever shoot high at 33 yds. As some one else said .... at least it was a clean miss. I had practised with the bow prior but I just assume it would stay statu...

I'm north of Guelph and I'm seeing scrapes and rubs but no chasing yet. I did see some bucks chasing each other about 2 weeks ago but I'm sure that was a dominance thing.

Saw some really fresh scrapes and rubs today. Does that mean the full rut is on?

These blinds are on sale this week in a Bass Pro Flyer (S. Ont). Is the smaller blind adequate or is the Penthouse required for space.?

My Exocet seems to have only one line on it. Should the string be on the line. I know in front of the line shoots high.

You're right R.J. there are alot of hunters in the Guelph area. I certainly don't pass on any good shot because that deer won't be around long in the areas I hunt. Especially after the shotgun hunt! I can't the believe the deer populations the U.S. posters seem to be seeing. Will out Ontario herd ev...

I spend more time sitting and less time walking. That tends to make one more observant so I sure agree with you Ninepointer. I'm also in the bush alot more which also helps improve your instincts.
