Re: A Dry Fire...and wasn't my fault

I am so disappointed Awshucks that you have set suck stringent rules to become a member of the wonderful organization. I think truly crushed would be a more appropriate word. I was hoping the end result would justify membership and not how it was done….. I will continue to practice to get it right, ...

A Dry Fire...and wasn't my fault

Went to the first 3D indoor tournament of the year today. Was at target the last target of the first round, and all was well. A 45 yard shot. Cocked the bow, safety on, arrow placed in the bow, double checked that it was all the way back against the string, safety off. Aimed, on target, slowly squee...

Re: Tamed some of the noise out of the Phoenix

Nice Job! I am wondering if the vanes of your arrows hit the Bowjax bolt retention spring dampener when you shoot. What vanes are you using?

Re: Mounting Rail Screws

Nope, I got myself a set of "T" handle hex wrenches after you mentioned them to me.... That is what I have been using. I will take a look as the socket sets. Will any of the loctites damage the plastic stock and rails on the Excaliburs? The Loctite site has the following warning: Not Recom...

8-32x5/16 Mounting Rail Screws

Don, that is how these small screws got messed up. I added so much tension that the hex holes on them are mostly round. I have not damaged any of the larger screws on the bow. As for the green loctite, I have never heard of it before. Does it act like blue loctite in that the screws can be removed o...

Mounting Rail Screws

Some screw is always vibrating loose on my Equinox and this is after all of them have blue loctite on them. This weekend the scope mounting rail screws decided it was their turn. They are in very bad shape after being tightened over and over again. I am not a mechanical person, can someone tell me w...

Re: High at 50 yards?

That was the first thing I did when the scope was installed. I then added a anti-cant level to the scope housing. This level is checked before taking every a shot.

Thanks for the thought Don.

Re: High at 50 yards?

Before altering my set up I was using factory Excalibur carbon Firebolts with 100 grain bullet field points (weighed 370 grains). The crosshairs and all of chevrons of the Twilight scope were dead on from 10 to 50 yards. I then shaved the factory vanes off and put on Blazer X2 vanes helical offset. ...

High at 50 yards?

I am shooting 3D targets at tournaments only, I am not a hunter. I am shooting Excalibur's carbon Firebolts with 100 grain bullet field points and Blazer X2 vanes helical offset.  They weigh in at exactly 350 grains.  My bow is a 2011 Eqiunox with a Boo 40 strand string and a DLX Twilight scope. Thi...

Re: Camo Dip

Are there any other hydrographic companies dipping bows in Canada? Checked out Brushfire. Looking for other choices of films.

Really don't want to pay Mr. Harper duty on my bow for the privilege of having a US company dip it when I can support a business here.

Re: Short Arms…..Bad Stance

Thanks everyone for the responses. Lots to think about or to try out.

I have already done what you suggested CBRon, I put extra high scope rings on my scope to lower the stock a bit.

Thanks again!

Cheers,

Bill

Re: Short Arms…..Bad Stance

Thanks for the videos SScott. I will have to give them a try and see if I can find a comfortable stance that works for me.

I just found out that the 2011 IBO rules will not allow anything to be added to the bow that would aid in bracing, like a palm rest...so that is out...

Short Arms…..Bad Stance

I am new to crossbows and I am having trouble getting a rock solid stance. I only shoot 3D tournaments. I am the proud owner of a 2011 Equinox as of mid June. My arms are a little on the short side. To get my elbow of the arm holding the forearm stock comfortably tucked into my side for support my h...

Re: Got my S5 today

You might consider getting a pair of extra large BowJax, the larger ones used on stabilizers. I put one over each of the rubber stoppers. Makes things even better. Other people have done it on this forum and have posted pictures.
