Re: gutting a deer

AP, welcome to the forum! Dependent upon your intended outcome, you may want to consider hanging the deer from the neck rather than the hind legs. We peel the deer by using the 4 wheeler, truck or tractor to pull the hide off the deer. This eliminates a BUNCH of HAIR and speeds the process. There ar...

Re: New trigger system

New Trigger, I don't believe you hit any "nerves." We tried to provide you with honest feedback in a polite but direct way. Because that feedback wasn't a resounding wave of support doesn't mean you hit a nerve. It means that the advisability of marketing the trigger to this particular gro...

Re: New trigger system

I couldn't justify $200 to enhance an already functioning trigger on an already highly accurate crossbow. Even at $75, I am not sure there is enough gain in accuracy or usefulness in adding an adjustable trigger compared to the trouble of installing said trigger. I am for keeping things simple when ...

Re: Deer Attractants

Like some of the others, I have used about everything out there, DeerCaine, C'mere Deer, something Rage and probably several others. None has worked like corn mixed with molasses. I get my shelled corn from the feed mill where they grind corn and other components for livestock feed. They will sell m...

Re: Accuracy MY Phoenix Questions

Got it dialed in!! Just spent the last two hours shooting my new Phoenix. This is the fourth or fifth time I have shot it since getting it about two weeks ago. From my earlier post until now is like night and day! I shot about 35 or 40 times from 10 yards out to 40 yards with excellent results! All ...

Re: PREPARING AND COOKING GAME

My favorite way to cook venison roasts, or whole hams is to cook them like a pot roast in the oven on low temperature (200 to 225) overnight - 12 to 16 hours. I season the meat a variety of different ways but most includes onions and/or garlic and black pepper, but I use other stuff as well. Served ...

Re: Crossbow Coyote

 Unfortunately, I had to "settle" for one of the very fine taxidermists here in Stokes County, NC. I suspect that my wife would have rejected any discussion of having the Mounted in Alaska team preserve a coyote since I would have had to personally deliver the coyote and give detailed...

Crossbow Coyote

I took this coyote with my Axiom crossbow (Firebolt arrow with 125 gr Muzzy fixed bh) during September. Just got it back from the taxidermist. This is the female. She and her mate were chasing squirrels under my deer stand. I had her mounted like she looked going after the squirrel she chased up a t...

Re: Accuracy MY Phoenix Questions

Thanks for the additional information, xbowholic! To everyone else, thanks as well. The suggestions have helped me put my Phoenix in excellent tune! Have been shooting arrows that I used last summer with the old Axiom. Apparently the vanes were in worse shape than I thought. I broke down and used a ...

Re: Accuracy MY Phoenix Questions

Thank you for the replies. I appreciate the feedback and expect to get the Phoenix dialed in with your help. To answer some of the questions, I am using a cocking aid. The broadheads are muzzy 125 gr. I haven't checked the screws yet but will the next chance I get. The scope is installed correctly a...

Accuracy MY Phoenix Questions

I had an Axiom that I bought last year. That crossbow was excellent! I enjoyed shooting it and took both a coyote and a large doe during bow season here in NC. Unfortunately, just before turkey season in April we had a burglary and among the handful of my things that were stolen (mostly my wife's je...
