Re: An Old 10 Point Down
Thanks everyone! It was a hunt that I will never forget. PanHandler, I'm just outside of Roanoke. Its great deer country with the mountains and farms but this urban hunting that my friend and I have gotten into is action packed fun. gotcha. I spent four years just an hour N of you in Rockbridge Co ...

Re: Had a slow start, but put buck down on Sat. Video inclu
I don't have any trees at my house that are worth climbing if you want a 20-35 yard shot. SO... I typically shoot off my porhch, which is probably 15 feet off the ground. I've never known exactly what the distance is across my property because I have a creek the runs through the middle of the yard a...

Re: Had a slow start, but put buck down on Sat. Video inclu
Thanks. I have watched frame by frame and I just don't see him ducking the string, but apparently I'm one of the few. Most other folks that have watched have said that he started dipping before the arrow got there. I'm pretty sure I just shot high. Regardless I should have been aming lower to allow ...

Re: An Old 10 Point Down
That's awesome!!! Where abouts in VA? I spent 4 years in western VA and at the time I did not hunt much. Sure wish I'd made the most of the management areas up there. If not that, then at least the 1 acre piece that I lived on out in the middle of nowhere. Buddies and I rented a little house for two...

Had a slow start, but put buck down on Sat. Video include
Well, I hunted the SE corner of my property where my neighbor had put a camera up. See other thread for details on THAT! Anyway, I used my climber in a tree that I have wanted to hunt for a few years but never found the motiviation because I always had deer at my ladder and tripod on the W side of t...

Re: Summit Titan SD Climbing Tree Stand:
I bought the Viper almost a year ago to the date. It's nice. A whole lot lighter than the API that was stolen off the base of a tree, and it is quieter. I don't care for the fact that in probably 20 climbs or less the plastic peeled off the cable and where the crimps are it has begun to rust. Also no...

Re: What do you guys think about this arrow set up?
That 110 brass insert puts FOC so freakin' high. That had me a little worried. With aluminum and the 10 grain added weight up front and I'm at 12.75% which sounds good anyway. That with the 100 grain head puts me at one or two grain shy of the 350 mark. I'm sure glue will make up for that. What abou...

Re: I need new arrows - GT II complaint and Firebolt questio
What I'd like to do is get 12 that are ALL GOOD. Then I could pick up two or three lighted nocks and be DONE with this crap for at least 3 seasons. Good luck! you're going to change the FOC on 3 out of 12. That will show up somewhere and to some degree................. Oh, I know that. I'm just say...

Re: Porblano and Pepper Jack Cheese Stuffed Backstrap
Holy smokes!
I ate a huge lunch and have not been able to even think about dinner... until now.
I have a bunch of cooking pictures / recipes that I'll start posting. Just didn't want to push my luck with off topic stuff. Figured the fishing pictures were bad enough!

What do you guys think about this arrow set up?
For my Axiom. Will also have either firenock or Burt Coyote on back which will add the last couple of grains to get over the 350 mark, and it will bring FOC back just at touch. It's at 12.75% now. Are aluminum inserts okay? Shaft Base Laser III Pro 20" Flat Straightness Tolerance +/- 0.001"...

Re: I need new arrows - GT II complaint and Firebolt questio
It looks like Laser II pro series would be the ticket. I'm only shooting 175# limbs with the axiom, so I don't need a super stiff arrow. The IIIs and IVs are pretty darn heavy. The Laser II Pros are the same weight 146 grain as the original IIs, they just have better tolerances (the same as the heav...

Re: I need new arrows - GT II complaint and Firebolt questio
What's the deal with these heat shrink vanes that you see on TV and in the big box stores? They worth a darn? Who are the custom folks on here? Maybe I'll have somebody here make me up a dozen or so. What I'd like to do is get 12 that are ALL GOOD. Then I could pick up two or three lighted nocks and...

Re: I need new arrows - GT II complaint and Firebolt questio
Oh, and FWIW... I'm shooting a 1 year old Axiom with original string. So when it comes to arrow recommendations, I don't need the stiffest badest arrow out there.
