Re: What think you?

I don't know if it's even possible to post photos on here. You can embed links from photobucket though which gets it done. If you email me the pics I'll link them for you.

An expensive visit....

I'd been away from this forum for nearly 4 years as I hadn't been using my Exocet 165, basically as a result of good luck with the .243 over the past few years. Anyhow...... decided to dig out the Exocet 2 weeks ago in the hope of filling my tag. Naturally I decided to visit this forum to see what's...

Re: Loctite scope screws question

Thanks guys. I absolutely will shoot a few at 20 & 40 yds to make sure the Lumizone is still bang on.

Loctite scope screws question

I've noticed that some of the scope ring screws start to back off a bit after a dozen or so shots. I plan to apply a little blue loctite to the threads and leave it for a day or two to set up. My question is this.... since the scope is currently snugged down and adjusted so the crosshairs are perpen...

Re: Bolt position

Welcome to the forum. The bolt should be seated up against the string with the bow cocked. There should be some pressure from the retaining spring as this holds the bolt in place, even when the crossbow is pointed downward. Shouldn't be really stiff, but it definitely applies some downward pressure....

Re: How Excalibur Flemish string bundles are made

Hi Don, I guess you'd call that an archer's loom..... I purchased a Flemish #1989 to hold me over until your string arrives. It's stretching nicely and seems to shoot very well, but the serving is 1/2 inch off centre. I'm assuming this won't hurt anything, but seems rather odd to me. Is this just a ...

Re: whitetail hunting advice

Sounds like you're inclined towards the 1st spot. I'd forget about the early morning hunt as your odds of bumping something on your hour long morning walk in are pretty high. I'd get in there and settled very early in the afternoon and sit till dark. If you're that close to the bedding area you shou...

Re: Need Expertise on Crossbows

Just in case you haven't already..... I'd check to make sure that crossbow hunting for his game of choice (deer?) is legal in your state or province, as there are a few that aren't as enlightened. Some will allow it only during rifle or shotgun season. A quick check with a local gun or archery shop ...

Re: Exocet 165 Brace Height question

Hi Don, Thanks for the tip regarding the flat riser, didn't realize it affected string length. I had surmised that the wider mag tips would shorten the string since it flares out the end loops....... would you suggest that I get a new string, such as an Excalibur Flemish Dyna-Flight string, to use u...

Re: Exocet 165 Brace Height question

Thanks gents, I've twisted it back more or less to the original amount. Guess I'll be using my dad's Vixen until this string stretches a bit.

Re: Exocet 165 Brace Height question

Thanks Don, I ordered a Boo string recently and I figured I'd limp along on the old Dacron string until your string arrives in 2016. When I re-strung the bow with the mag tips installed, the lowest brace height I could get was 2.25 inches & that's with it pretty much untwisted. I'm hoping this s...

Exocet 165 Brace Height question

I have a 1997 era Exocet 165 that I've just changed over to mag tip limbs. I believe I had the brace height set at 1-1/8 inches. Is there any reason the brace height should be changed after changing to the mag tip limbs? If I ditch my Dacron string for one of the newer materials, will that effect it...

Re: Budget Hunters

Some years ago my son bought a nice soft camo orange Remington coat at Walmart, but this year all they have is a regular camo coat or a straight orange coat . No black and orange coat and now I want one and they don't carry any. Every time I want something they never have it. Lucky me. We don't see...
