I have a Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport and it works fine. Range finders are great if you use a portable climbing stand. I will vary my stand locations depending on wind directions and deer movement. I am also continually developing new suburban hunting locations. A range finder lets you move into an ar...

I recently saw a thread on Archery Talk about people falling out of tree stands. http://www.archerytalk.com/vb/showthread.php?t=203410&highlight=tree+stand+fall I was suprised at the number of incidents. I have had a couple of close calls while using my Summit climber. Usually while climbing and...

If you decide to use dry ice, be careful as dry ice (carbon dioxide) will dilute the oxygen concentration inside and enclosed container. Do not enter a walk in container until you have opened the door and allowed some air exchange inside. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air and will lay inside a ches...

I am looking forward to seeing your photos of the elk after you score. We tally up a large number of deer on the site but not many elk. Good luck and enjoy.

Dave,
I read the Frontiersman and it was great. He certainly has a way of bringing history alive. I just started reading is book on Tecumsah. I keep looking for the rest of his series at book sales.

I also agree that good field care procedures are critical to the taste of the meat. Diet also will effect the taste of the meat. The deer that I have shot in the mountains that were strictly on a diet of browse did not taste as good as the farm coutry deer that I hunt now.

Your breaking my heart with all these Wisconsin bucks! I am lucky if I see two or three bucks a season. Sounds like you had quite an exciting evening.
