Re: New season goals what's yours?

1) I am going to take 2 or 3 new hunters out this year. I want to at least put them on deer and it would be great if they all got a deer.
2) I want to kill one with my recurve trad bow. From the ground if possible.

Re: 3 Blade Sharpener - Stay Sharp 344

Yeah Joe. I killed a few deer with Montecs sharpened on flat stones. To me they were never really sharp...but they did the job although blood trails were not awesome. And I would say that none of my RamCat blades were ever surgical sharp....but they did the job well too. But now we have tools that m...

3 Blade Sharpener - Stay Sharp 344

I bought one of these and sharpened up 3 VPA 300gr 3 blades for my trad bow. I could never get 3 blade single piece heads really sharp. This worked very well. To me a big improvement over a flat stone. https://staysharpguide.com/products/344 I really like using sandpaper rather than a stone. For my ...

Re: Is a shoulder/scapula shot a concern for a modern crossbow hunter?

Your best shot is a broadside shot or a quartering away shot. An arrow shot quartering away the arrow may still get stopped on the opposite shoulder but its usually a done deal cutting lung, liver and heart on its way in. Absolutely! But the OP question is basically "I don't plan to shoot at t...

Re: Is a shoulder/scapula shot a concern for a modern crossbow hunter?

Holy smokes, crazy pics. I'm not advocating aiming for the shoulder, I'm advocating for the fact that we're overstressing using heavy bolt setups. I'm thinking that any modern crossbow with 350-380gr bolt should shoot through a shoulder no problem in the event that a poor shot is made. I 100% disag...

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads

I'm indexing my Matrix arrows now stiff side up and will rebuild them that way. Them being a bit longer and having slightly less FOC, I'll be interested to see how they fly with a fixed head. Verdict? My 18" Zombies weigh ~402 grains with a 100gr standard TOTA vented head. I thought I may need...

Good thing I don't own any guns.
Same. It's just a shame that they ALL went down in that horrible boating accident.

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads

So I guess you don't need to shoot a mechanical to have good accuracy at high arrow speeds.

Re: New CDC mask guidelines when filling up your hunting truck!

I "filled up" aka the $100 limit, on Friday at $4.23/gal. Drove by that station Saturday and it was $4.35/gal. $0.12 in 1 day! BS.

But yeah.......been riding the Indian Scout a lot more.....

Another idea is to sight in at 40 yards with the broad heads and who cares about the field points .
True true...but if you can get them aligned then you KNOW you have perfect arrow flight.

Re: Testing : Tooth of the Arrow Broadheads

I just ordered a spine tester today. I'm looking forward to checking the spine on a boatload of arrows. Especially the ones that have never seemed to fly right. I was gonna ask if you tried each vane in the rail (trying out different spine locations). That might let them drop right in with the FP. ...
