Re: Climbing Treestands and Crossbows
I have also cocked my bow while in the stand. Thinking about doing this was part of the reason I went with the Phoenix and not a higher draw weight bow. The Summit Razor is the bow hunter model. So after climbing, I can fold the bar down and the front is open, makes cocking easier.

Re: Climbing Treestands and Crossbows
I have a Summit Razor and like it. I always use my safety harness. I put it on at the truck, hook it to the tree before stepping into the stand, and stays on until my feet hit the ground. I take the arrow off my when pulling the bow up, but do leave it cocked.

Re: Hiking with a cocked bow
Nice, thanks for the tip! I hunt with a climbing stand, so it is on my back and bow in my hand, cocked, locked and loaded!VixChix wrote:I usually have a rubber band around the stock which I flip up over the safety as extra security for carrying it cocked and loaded.

.The bug has got me too. About 3 1/2 months until opening day for deer. Nice pics. Still waiting to get my first "trophy" deer. So far, it's been does and small bucks, but they do fill a freezer

Re: Swhacker Broadheads
I didn't look down the product page far enough. I see where they have the replacement bands. When I was shooting a compound bow, I was using some rockethead expandables, and just didn't like the fact that they would bend the blades after every shot. On those, the bands would slide down the shaft, mo...

Re: Swhacker Broadheads
Do these cut the rubber band when shot? Or do the pivot just so, that the bands just slip down the arrow?

Removing dissipator bar?
I have the S5 silencers for my Phoenix and was thinking of removing the dissipator bars and see how much difference the noise is with out them. I have read about removing them, but not how/what needs to be done. Anyone have instructions? When removing them, do you need to keep the short bars that ar...

Re: season regs.changes for the good
Here, we have a big game tag that you buy. I am east of the Blue Ridge, (and it makes a difference), we get 3 either sex tags and 3 antlerless tags (that's the way it's listed ). West, and you lose one either sex tag. But we can buy all the antlerless only tags that you want, 2 deer per tag.

Re: Arrow length
Try to be sure you shoot flat nocks though, regardless of your arrow length. Maybe I missed something, but why flat nocks? I bought new arrows with the light up nocks and was told that I could use the half moon nocks, just make sure you have a nock vane. (The reason I got the half moon is that they...

Re: Deer Targets
I had the same problem with my bag target, even with a vertical bow. I just "fluff" the bag every so often to move the insides around. Still holding up strong, even with the X-cal hitting it. As for a deer target, can't really help you there. I used to have one years ago, but it was pretty...

Re: Hello From a Newbie
Welcome welcome welcome,,,,,, I am a recent member to this forum, but have owned my X Cal for a few years. I had wanted an X-bow since I was a kid, but they were not legal to hunt with in VA. I couldn't justify spending the money on it, and not being able to hunt with it. So I went the compound bow ...

Re: Looking into getting a climbing tree stand
next thing and the most important is a good harness. I would consider the harness to be just as important as the stand. Aways hook up at ground level and unhook when you get back down to the ground. I broke 5 bones coming out of a broken stand back in the 1970s and have used a harness ever since. +...

Re: decocking mistake (learning the hard way 101)
I could easily see myself getting out there in the woods early one morning and realizing I forgot the rope cocker. :( Sure would be comforting to know I have a spare in either my daypack or close by in the Jeep. :D I always hook my rope cocker on the bow, so all I have to do is draw it back,...
