Re: Slick Trick Questions
I use the Slicktrick 150 and 175 gr. xbow magnums and they are very accurate. you don't have to use inserts which keeps it simple and dependable. the 150 gr. usually pass through and there is always massive bleeding. I got the 175 gr. at a yard sale, still packaged and with 175 gr. target tips for p...

Re: Venting and asking for input
Don, you are a legend on this site for your skills, generosity and all round great guy. I think a deposit of 35 or 40 percent would be in keeping with that image. It will likely eliminate triflers. Send a reply stating order has been received and will be fulfilled. I have two very fine knives from D...

Re: Range Finders
I went with a Vortex Solo r/t monocular. It is 8 x 36. This uses the mrad scaling system. Took me a while to learn to use it right but once you get it you will be surprised at your range accuracy. Optics are very clean and bright and field is very good. It is built very sturdy and is compact. I find...

Re: Broadheads for moose
After trying a lot of arrow heads I no longer use expanding heads for anything. Moose have a very tough hide. My experience is that COC heads penetrate best on tough hides. I find the NAP Hellrazor crossbow, 150 gr. will often pass through a moose and shatter bones. It is also easy to field sharpen ...

Re: Anyone shooting "Heavy" bolts?
I use the 20" Firebolt and find them very good. Get the odd one that is irregular. First thing I do is re-fletch with "the Bolt" and 2" Blazers. One of my favorite heads is the Slick Trick 175 gr. xbow magnum. That gets you an arrow <> 550 gr. It is very accurate(1" groups a...

Re: Broadhead in riser
Half of my arrows are Firebolts cut to 18". I use them in a Vortex and they are fine.I Fletch them with 2" blazers and tipped with SlickTrick 175gr. crossbow magnum. They also shoot well with the NAP 125 gr. Hellrazor crossbow tip. Take care not to go under the 350 gr. arrow weight as per ...

Re: Excalibur Sound Suppression: S5 vs. Dissipator Bars
Just bought an axiom. I added the S5 kit. I am wondering how it compares to the Dissipator Bar Kit. Anyone have experience with this? Also, what if I also added the dissipator bars WITH the S5 system? Would that add anything significant to the sound suppression the S5 already offers? ...or would it...

AZ EZ Fletch, Bolt all the way. First few arrows are iffy then everything is good. You can buy parts if required. They are not expensive.

Re: NAP Broadheads
Lots of good advice here about doing your own testing. lots of suppliers offer practice heads so ya can keep your hunting heads sharp. I use one NAP bh and really like it, the 125 gr. Hell Razor Crossbow. This is a fixed COC bh and on tough skinned game like moose it shines. It is tough and easy to ...

Re: What's the temp ?
Yesterday morning in North Central Alberta it was brilliantly sunny and -40C. With wind factor it was -52. Today it jumped to -8C. Average snow depth here is < > 3.5 feet. A little West of here there is a lot more. Hunting is over until next Fall so not missing that. Shortly will be uncovering the S...
