Destringing Vortex and dissipators?
Last night I destrung my dad's Ibex and my Vortex for a couple of months of storage - prior to removing the string we cocked each bow and removed the dissipator pads on then ends - but left the bars attached with the small rubber pads attached. Should we have removed the bars entirely or just the en...

Re: Off topic, but awesome... My new Weber E-330 / 1st meal
I have the same Weber without the side burner and love it. Best grille I've ever owned and I can tell already it will outlive any of the prior grilles I've had by at least 5-7 years. Heats evenly and cooks great. My dad just bought a Charbroil Tru Infra Red and it's ok - but I'd much rather cook on ...

Re: Exomax
Between the marks on the rail is the preferred brace height. As long as the string is within that range you're good.

Re: S5 string clearance?
Crap! So I need to verify the direction the serving is wound and be sure to twist the string tighter from 1 specific side? I already did it (tightened the left side about 10 turns to get it to clear the S5's) but hadn't seen this post until then. Will my serving unravel if I did it from the wrong si...

Re: S5 string clearance?
Thanks. Should I twist each side equally or is one twist on one side ok (if that solves the clearance issue)?

S5 string clearance?
Put on my new S5's tonight (Vortex) and I'm concerned about string clearance. The installation instructions says that the string should just barely clear them and my string is just touching. However, it looks like if I add a twist to the string then the string will be at the end brace height marking...

advantages of 2" vanes vs. 4"? lots of questions...
I'm new to crossbows after a few years hiatus from hunting while my boys were babies. Now that they're getting older I have some more time to devote to hunting but not enough to dedicate to my Mathews solo cam and what's involved with getting ready for the season with a vertical bow. So I bought a V...

Re: No Wax at all on string?
Thank you all for the replies - I appreciate them all. Now to just decide what I want to do since there seems to be no right or wrong answer. :) I'm totally amazed with my Vortex btw - shooting dead on at 20 and 30 yards consistently is so much fun. Walking back and forth after each shot so as to av...

No Wax at all on string?
My dad and each bought new Excalibur crossbows from Dan Miller - an Ibex for my dad and a Vortex for me. During the sale conversation - Dan very emphatically said he didn't want us putting anything at all on the string - especially the serving. His rationale is that the wax builds up on the trigger ...
