re-attaching one loose vane.

One of the blazer vanes on a Black Eagle Zombie Slayer I put through a deer last week is about half detached. There is no visible damage to the vane, the front half is just torn loose. The arrow is otherwise unscathed. Can I just glue it back on or should I take it to an archery shop to be re-fletch...

Re: O/T - Bag limit of Ruffies

I envy you! When we had a Missouri ruffed grouse season and a good population of grouse, I didn't deer hunt at all. If we still had grouse, I probably wouldn't even own a crossbow. Hitting the woods behind a couple of bird dogs with the likely prospect of moving some birds is just more appealing to ...

Re: the drought is over!

It feels good to get he first one out of the way, doesn't it? Now you can focus on filling the freezer the rest of the way or, killing a buck (or both). You're on your way to a good season.

Re: Deer Numbers?

I have been out two mornings and two evenings and I have seen a total of 27 deer. I have only seen antlers on one but I'm watching over a 35 acre crop field and I haven't used my binoculars much. My field is now open with lots of corn laying around, so it is attracting more than its normal share of ...

Re: who sharpens broadheads?

It seems to me that using tool or knife grade steel would add to the cost of a head because the steel itself would be more expensive and it would be harder to fabricate and sharpen. People would probably complain that they have trouble re-sharpening the blades. Good knives and tools are forged and b...

Re: Micro Sausage!

That looks delicious! I sent a doe to the butcher earlier this week and I can't wait to get my own sausage. That looks like a Wusthof knife in one of your photos. I have a set of those also and I really like them. The great meals the venison provides are half of the enjoyment. Congratulations and go...

Re: who sharpens broadheads?

I think to be humane and ethical you need to keep your blades as sharp as you reasonably can. You don't want them to make light contact with a vein or artery and just push by without cutting it. I have a set of small files and a small diamond embedded stone with a handle on it that I use. When a bro...

Re: First ever September deer

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures. It I just wanted to get the deer ready to take to the walk in cooler they leave behind the place I use for processing (so you can leave a deer after hours). It was brown with a white belly and it was bloody. Just look at the pictures that you (Anthony) posted earli...

First ever September deer

Our Missouri archery deer season begins on Sept. 15 and I have done some hunting in Sept. each of the three previous years I have crossbow hunted. It has usually been too warm with too much vegetation and with crops in the way, for good hunting. I saw very few deer and looked forward to Oct. when th...

Re: Changing from 150 to 125gr with Firebolt?

A couple of years ago was using 150 gr. slick tricks with firebolts and decided I needed some more broadheads. It was October and I was going to hunt that weekend, so I needed to buy something at a brick and mortar store. I went to Bass Pro and the heaviest slick tricks they had were 125 gr. magnums...

Re: M355 takes a nice 4x4 Bull Elk/ full hunt story included

Great story and congratulations! Good memories are some of the best things in life and memories that combine joy and misery, but end with the joy, are the best and most vivid. I have never hunted elk but I want to. A friend once told me that elk hunting is more trouble than it is worth because "...

Re: this sucks!!!!!!!!

What happened to you must really suck, especially with fall hunting seasons just beginning. I put those kinds of problems behind me long ago. I grew tired of losing permission to hunt on private land, and I really hated being crowded by other hunters on public land, so I convinced my wife that buyin...

Re: Deer movement when it is HOT

Is NASA (and many other scientific organizations) not a source of real science? http://climate.nasa.gov/ In many cases, no. When your career and funding source are determined by the results of your study then what masquerades as science turns into nothing more than self preservation. Ref: Why most ...
