Re: Lumenok
I installed them last November after not finding my deer until the next morning, lost the blood trail. It seems my firebolts are better balanced with the luminoks, very accurate.

Re: Archery Moose
So many suggestions! It appears that 2" blazers are where I should start. Thanks for all your input.

Re: Archery Moose
Helical blazer vanes are 2" long with a higher profile. The helical comes from the fletcher you use to apply the vanes. In my case, I use the "Bolt"EZ fletcher. It puts a twist to the vane much like the twist in a rifle barrel. This imparts more spin, a bit of drag, which stabilizes ...

Re: Archery Moose
I'm about 45 minute drive to Archers Nook in London, I might have to get over there next weekend and look around.

Re: Archery Moose
Quote:OK, so you fletch your bolts yourself. I'm not that sophisticated yet. Actually it's quite easy as the fletcher does all the work for you. The only grunt work is peeling, scraping, and cleaning(called prepping) the arrow. I thought the same way as you not too long ago and was pleasantly surpr...

Re: Deer Combo
I like the rage mechanicals for accuracy but I can't get a pass through and that means less blood for tracking. I found the last deer I shot in the morning because the blood trail was so weak. I'd much rather recover them when they are still warm.

Re: Archery Moose
Bunt, If you haven't already, remove the long vanes and put helical Blazer vanes on your arrows. It makes an incredible change in accuracy with all broad heads. I also agree that you should never hunt moose with expandables. I shot a Boltcutter through a wrecked car. Passthrough with no damage to t...

Re: Archery Moose
We hunted in 21A two years ago and only saw one cow, and she went into the freezer. We saw very little of anything, this was a little disappointing, it would have been nice to see more wildlife.

Re: Archery Moose
My group has arrowed at least 10 moose with Xcalibur's most of the bows were exomags. We have never had an bolt that we could find, they all blow clean through and under ground (all shot from tree stands)! Last year we bagged three bulls in two days, 2 with exomags and one with compound. Both bulls...

Re: Archery Moose
From a hunter who formerly owned a Phoenix, I can say that I would have no worries in taking a moose with that crossbow if I were you. I shot a whitetail at forty yards broad side, clean through double lung shot, cut a rib clean off on the entry wound and cut a rib clean off on the exit wound. The ...

Re: Archery Moose
That's encouraging, I have yet to get a pass through with my Phoenix on the deer I have shot. I am shooting the Firebolts with the 125gr Rage mechanicals- deadly accurate.Bones wrote:The bull we got last year was taken with a phoenix using the old wasp boss ,blew through him at 28 yds.

Re: Archery Moose
I know nada about hunting moose...but i've read on this forum of moose being taken with the 150lb vixen. If you use a quality broadhead ( slick trick  ) and good shot placement at reasonable archery distances bullwinkle doesn't stand a chance!! Good luck I am not familiar with slick...
