Someone on this forum told us to use lawn mower starting cord as a replacement string for the cocker.
Please don't. It's not designed for that much force.

Re: Cocking rope failure

Get Amsteel rope, comes in several diameters and lengths, I use around 1/8” with no problems for cocking and stringing aides. Jody5252, pm me your address and I will send you a yard or so. Double knot the ends, and burn the frayed strands to make a bulb on the end. Dan In my opinion using anything ...

Re: Texas Opening Week and Trespassers!! Geez!!

Years ago trespassers on my Uncle’s Place got stuck in the Oklahoma red clay. Hiked up to his house and asked if he would pull them out with his tractor. Instead he called the Game Warden(his cousin) and the Sheriff(another cousin). The trespassers has a very bad experience then. In addition they h...

Re: You gotta love Illinois

That has to be the stupidest law I have ever heard of!! Definitely trying to discourage crossbow hunting. Does the law apply to vertical bows? This kind of chicken crap is why my daughter and her husband just left Illinois for Alabama. I wonder how many gang bangers in South Chicago have their handg...

Re: Wow!! No punches pulled!!

I killed a buck last year at 40 yards as measured with my Range Finder. Seemed like a longer shot than that at the time. No 50 yard shots for me. Was lucky to find an opening in the brush for a 40 yard shot. Had my share of arrows getting tangled up in limbs never to be seen again. He was so interes...

Re: question on bolt broadhead weight

The only specification I have seen is for a speed of 305 fps with a 350 grain arrow and 150 grain field points. It really boils down to what broadhead/arrow combination works best for you. Do a web search on arrow FOC and go from there. Too light an arrow/broadhead combination could damage your cros...

Wow!! No punches pulled!!

Stumbled onto this video tonight. He definitely has an opinion and doesn't mind expressing it. Is it that common for people to shott at a deer at 100 yards? I've never seen anyone shoot at any animal at 100 yards with a crossbow but that doesn't mean someone hasn't. Bill https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Dang Ticks!!

I use Sawyer repellent here in Oklahoma. Have used it for several years now. No ticks found when I use it as recommended. We have a real problem with ticks here but I have been tick free. https://sawyer.com/products/permethrin-insect-repellent-treatment/ Don't spray it directly on your skin. Follow ...

Re: Bow tune up

Scary!! In my humble opinion he's a slacker. One very good friend of mine does similar things with his guns. He has over 20 guns and some are brand new or at least they used to be. Most look pretty bad now. As an example he left a beautiful Ruger 25-06 in his garage for many years. Living in Washing...

Re: Extra limbs

On occasion I have been known to do some pretty stupid things. As tough as my Exomax is it is not indestructible. I have a spare set of limbs and a spare scope. I wait too long for deer season to take any chances I will be waiting to get my crossbow fixed. Lost over a week a few years ago when my sc...
