Re: What Deer See
Camo is definitely popular ONLY because it attracts hunters to the cash register (not slamming the camo-wearers....I am one, too; but be assured that none of Grandpa's hunting parties ever wore camo, yet they were quite successful hunters (and they probably wore blue denim!).

Re: Question 380 or 405
First of all, my attorney will be contacting you about your confusingly similar User ID. regarding your question, both great bows. I tried both when considering an upgrade from my Exocet. I chose the 380 since the 405 was, for me, notably harder to cock. I had no trouble dropping deer with my 310 fp...

Re: arrow length ???
My matrix 380 shoots 18" diablos exactly the same as 20" firebolts, at least out to 50 yards, with the same 100 grain points...... I haven't weighed them in a while but I seem to recall that they were just a few grains apart in weight. The difference of course is that the 20" bolts st...

Re: New axiom heading my way, i got some questions.
Welcome to the forum. I too started with a compound crossbow and disliked the complexity. I switched to an Exocet 200 and loved it. So much that I also now have a Matrix 380, too. That Exocet (slightly more speed than your axiom) passed firebolts with 100gr rage mechanicals right through deer no pro...

Re: Poison Ivy
thanks for the suggestions. Will wash the boots as recommended. If it happens again I might have to get some disposable cleanroom "bunny suits" to use. I wonder if I can get them in RealTree camo

Real leather and synthetic leather (waterproof, in theory).Starvin' Hillbilly wrote:you wear leather, leather/ cordura or rubber boots?
I do also have some ballistic nylon (I think) boots but I don't usually wear them into the woods.

Re: Matrix Changes Everything...
I do have one complaint with my new 380; As I mentioned in my previous post, I got my first doe of the season with the 380 a couple of weeks ago. 40 yards, good double lung shot; nicked a rib on the way in, went right out the other side; rage broadhead. She walked about 60 feet and died. My complain...

Poison Ivy
Hey guys and gals. Long time no see. I hope you had a good summer. Summer was good for me, and fall has started nicely with a doe (with help from my new-ish matrix 380) in the first week of our early season. Got a seemingly rookie question. While setting up my stands in an area with lots of poison i...

Re: Matrix 380. Speed? Noise?
Ronnie: I have chrony'd my exocet at 310 FPS, and have shot numerous deer at 35-40 yards and they didn't react until they were hit. I can't imagine anything jumping the string on a matrix at reasonable hunting distances......

Great pics. I was wondering if the last pic might include a crossbow or an arrow. Does FL have a spring gobbler season? When?

Re: triggertech
I have shot em both and like em both. If I was buying one I would probably choose the 2 stage for the take-up....it is somewhat reminiscent of the DAO pistols that I shoot (Glock, for example), and I like a little take-up. But I am happy with either one.....and am happy with the excal trigger, too. ...

Re: Help with first crossbow - Ibex vs. Matrix
Get a Matrix 355 !! this would be the right answer if cost was not a factor. But cost is a factor, and since my 310 FPS (chrony'd) exocet gives me plenty of speed for hunting, I figure 180-285 on an Axiom would be fine, too. If the narrower limbs really was that important, I would not have gotten a...

Re: Help with first crossbow - Ibex vs. Matrix
I thought I would come back to this thread rather than start a new one. I am thinking hard about pulling the trigger and getting an Axiom SMF as my spare bow. But, question for the experts....is the plastic/composite rail going to have any real-world negative impact compared to the aluminum rail on ...

Re: Deer #'s down for this past hunting season
the 2013/2014 number for VA are not yet in, but they have reported decreases in deer kills for the past 3 years. They attribute this to "successful deer management initiatives."
