Re: Excalibur TwinStrike Crossbow
Nice technology, and I can see it's attraction for some. Not for me, though.....at almost 8 pounds that's a lot of crossbow to drag through the woods. And I have never needed a "quick" follow up shot (though I have sometimes had to use a "finishing" shot). Heck I usually use my m...

Re: C2 Crank Advice
Coming in a little late to this discussion. When I bought my first Excal about 10 years ago....I was wondering how long I would be able to cock it without the crank. Last month, while practicing for an archery qualification, that time had come. Tendonitis or something in my elbow made it impossible ...

Re: Do I Have Enough Turkey Loads?
We are permitted 3 birds per year. So...I need 3 shells (turkey loads) per year. I have over 10 years worth of inventory.
I use steel target loads for practice and trap shooting..... better than polluting my field with 40-50 pounds of lead every year....

Re: Local turkey season compromised with virus?
Virginia is closing certain parks and public land...but no changes (yet) to any hunting or fishing season. I hunt turkey on private land, where we have a house (I mean "home," of course), so my blinds are up and I am ready to go. I can hunt while still complying with our "stay at home...

Screw-in weights
Hi folks. Question for the braintrust on weights. I have been shooting 100 grain broadheads (mostly mechanicals) for years, with good success. For numerous reasons that are outside the scope of this post, I am strongly considering switching to 150's, and thus re-sighting my bows appropriately (Matri...

Re: Cleaning Diablo shafts
Acetone. Read the instructions, nasty stuff. Laughing out loud because last month my daughter destroyed about half the stuff in her dorm room with acetone. Somebody told her it was a great cleaner. I could have killed her..... Anyway, good to know that the diablos are robust enough to handle aceton...

Cleaning Diablo shafts
Hey gang. Long time no post. I guess no issues.....the Matrix 380 has just been doin' it's thing. I hope everyone has been having a good season..... Question for the experts though. I finally have enough Diablos with damaged vanes that it's time for a little refletching. I have the most of the mater...

Re: Rage Crossbow X Broadheads
I have had good luck with Rage 2-blades. I had a couple of premature deployments of the old "O-ring" style, but I solved that issue by putting a dental rubber band around the front of the closed blades. I am now using the Crossbow X style with the red shock collars, I still use the dental ...

Ten-pointer
Hey guys. Long time no post...mainly because the Matrix has been flawless. Using Boo's video, I have re-served a string...it seemed to work. I tried to post a photo of yesterday's ten-pointer....but the system is not cooperating....now I can't delete the post.....arrgh Here's to wishing everyone a s...

Re: Matrix 380; string/serving replacement
Hello, Was wondering if You apply any wax to your serving ? If not, I would recommend a light waxing regularly. Your circumstances sound about what I do here on the farm. In My opinion being cocked for periods of time is harder on serving than actually shooting occasionally. Hi. Yes, I do wax the s...

Re: A Sad Day For Vermont
If I owned no land, I would be in favor of Vermont's outgoing law. But I do own land, and would not be happy with my land being considered "open range." Here in Virginia, most consider property rights to be sancrosanct, and permission is sought (by considerate folks) for both hunting and r...

Matrix 380; string/serving replacement
Hi guys, long time no speak. I hope y'all had a good summer. I did a search and couldn't find anything....and may have even asked this question before but can't recall any helpful info. So, generally, I replace the string on my Matrix 380 every season. Generally I probably take about 100-150 shots p...

Re: Do you guys wear Camo?
Not really hunting related but I sometimes tell the story of my first visit to the Great American Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA. I went during the week, middle of the day....the place was packed, with lots of school-age kids and their parents, and I had to be the only person NOT wearing camo........
