Re: Almost "screwed" Need Help *edit bad news*
What has worked for me is a concoction of acetone and ATF mixed 50 / 50 if you want a good penetrant . Another way you could remove your bolt would require a nut that would fit over the remaining shank and plug welding the nut to the shank of the bolt . It gives you some heat and you can use a sock...

Compressed air - uses a 2 inch pneumatically actuated diaphragm valve. Acutator is a 3/4 inch electrically actuated solenoid valve. Muzzle velocity is about 800 fps.Boo wrote: Awesome! Is it propane fueled?

Re: Boofest 2014
Dons a lot more fun than Rob Ford ,hes got a potato canon . 2nd weekend is definitely better than the holiday weekend for me. I'll try to make my rookie appearance this year. If I make it I'll bring my potato cannon as well. It has a 9 foot barrel, can be shoulder fired and has range of 800 yards. ...

Re: 405 speed?
Just tested a 401 gr Zombie with a Danny Miller Flemish string and got 379 ft/sec  5 shot string, all duplicate speeds. Brace height was 1/4" and the string more or less settled in without shooting so expect a few more ft/sec even though the shot string showed consistent numbers. Nice! ...

Re: Tree stands or Ground a Blinds...
Due to fact cross bow allows for very minimal movement i've had great sucess sitting on ground in Gillie suit. Shure saves all the stand work and allows you to really play the wind. Love the pop up blinds for miserable weather for sure, but rest of time I like flexibility to move about. X2 IMO this...

Re: 405 speed?
Hopefully I will know in another month but I'm going to use a 425gr arrow and hope to get mid 370's. Check out this tool on Easton's Website. http://www.eastonarchery.com/store/kinetic_calculator Using this, the 350 grain arrow at 405 fps produces 127.5 ft-lbs of energy Assuming the energy stays ab...

Re: Can you cock your 380 while sitting down?
I've done it in a chair in the blind probably half a dozen times. It is definitely harder than when standing but certainly manageable.

Re: Uncocking the 405
I have a 380 and have uncocked it dozens of time with the string cocker. No problem whatsoever. I expect the 405 won't be that much harder.

Broke Down
Well I did it.
I broke down and ordered a bare bones 405.
Gonna put a Boo string on it and top it with either a Leupold or a Hawke.
Probably gonna shoot an arrow weight of about 425gr (Goldtip III cut to 19 inches) - should yield an arrow speed of 365 to 370 fps.
Can't wait!!!

Re: The Friday the 13th doe
Thanks for the great replies. I am quite sure that most people with a 13 year old son or anyone that's lost a deer to coyotes would have done the same.

The Friday the 13th doe
I picked up my son (13 year old apprentice) at lunch from school and we headed out to do some Xbow hunting. We arrived on site at 1:30pm and were settled by about 2:00 pm. Didn't even occur to me that today was Friday the 13th. Never been superstitious but maybe that will change based on todays hunt...

Re: Wife kills her first deer
Congrats!! Gotta love hunting from the yard of your house.
What ammo was she shooting out of the .243? I am setting my youngest son up with a .243 and wondered what people are using for ammo on whitetail.
