Re: RevX has arrived!

The camo pattern on this Revx is outstanding! https://images2.imgbox.com/90/d8/5fsiELF6_o.jpeg https://images2.imgbox.com/cc/e4/lSy5fbM6_o.jpeg You using that on your Temagami bear? I am trying the Assasin Extreme on bear this year. Don't think Jeff ever said here in this thread that he got one. Th...

Re: Off Grid Abitibi for end of Season Win

How was the break-in fuel mileage? Do you like the KUIU pants? My favorite clothing brand I might add. So not done the break in yet - only had the truck for 8 days. Unloaded on the highway the milage is currently about 10% worse than my old truck. Right now new truck it is getting about 12.5 L/100....

Re: Off Grid Abitibi for end of Season Win

You likely know the drill to bleed air out of a diesel fuel line if you run the engine out of fuel. Nice fishing. You make me jealous. My fishing buddy died of cancer a couple of years ago and I've hardly winter fished since then. Yeah been there done that with the diesel. Sorry to hear about your ...

Off Grid Abitibi for end of Season Win

Sunday morning at 1130 my nephew and i hit the road bound for Abitibi. Had to make a 45 minute pit stop at the cottage to pickup gear and had a few anxious moments with the truck. Truck is brand new and i misjudged the range and we almost ran out of diesel in the middle of nowhere. Found some with l...

New Rig - Probs my last oil burner

Picked it up Thursday. 2024 Silverado 2500 HD Diesel, ZR2 Trim - plates, dampers and e-locker all riding on 35s. My old duramax had 541k on it, owed me nothing and they still gave my 10G for it. Spidy sense was tingling and felt like the old truck was gonna strand me somewhere a thousand miles off-g...

Spring break road trip to Texas maybe 10+ years ago: https://live.staticflickr.com/4625/25032970887_36570ce5a2_c.jpg Kid (my youngest) is now 25 and getting married this summer. Toured NASA and then spent a day/night camped at Flightattendants place with a bunch of other forum members on a lake that...

Re: Canning Venison ?

You need some newfs to chime in. Newfie bottled moose, rabbit or seal (limit of my experience) is awesome. Put it on crackers and few things can rival it. Damn been a few years - gonna have to look up my buds in T'bay and stock up.

Re: Sometimes you lose

Thanks for the kind words guys. As it turns out even with the helmet on i knocked my noggin pretty good - have to buy a new helmet next week. Concussed apparently. Taking it easy this week, no real pain or anything but can't focus very well and lose my train of thought pretty easy (well easier than ...

Sometimes you lose

Most of the time we post our wins. But every once in while good to post a loss - helps keep my ego in check. Kinda like that time with the thumb some of you may recall. So Sunday - Still lots of ice on Nip but I knew there was a high probability of open cracks after the thaw but not really bothered ...

Re: Once in a lifetime weekend on Nip

Thanks for the great replies guys. So took me 5 hours to fillet the 81 fish. One 2 hour shift and one 3 hour shift. Touched up the fillet knife once mid way through with a few strokes on the 1200 grit fine hone. Might look into an electric as my neighbour tells me they are the cat's azz. Although no...

Wow! Nice catch! I'm envious! I haven't ice fished on hard or soft water for probably 20 years! Is the first one a burbot? I've never seen one that wasn't preserved as a specimen
Yeah the first one is the burbot. 27 inches. Good eating.

Once in a lifetime weekend on Nip

Friday afternoon my oldest son and i headed up to the cottage for a weekend on the ice. Don't get that many chances to get out with the lad so was hoping for a good weekend. Little did i know that the fishing would smash our expectations and go down as one of the greatest fishing weekends of all tim...

Multi day first ice

Sunday at 9 am my nephew and I headed north to find fishable ice and maybe if real lucky something thick enough for the snowmobile. First stop was the cottage to pickup all the gear. Next stop was the Comfort Inn in Kirkland Lake where we spent the evening going over and making adjustments to gear. ...
