What Is Your Arra Recipe?

Whats your preferred arrow recipe?

I am shooting 20" Zombies with 110gr brass insert, 125gr Slick Trick Mag, Lumenok, and 2" Blazers with a 3 degree offset. 463gr total wt. I'm slinging these at approx 320fps out of a 355. FOC is somewhere around 22% if I recall.

Dunham's, Dick's, and Meijer Coupons...

I have a 20% off coupon for Dunham's, $10 off of a hunting purchase of $25 or more at Dick's Sporting Goods, and 20% off one Hunting department item for Meijers. For my own use I have these copied into a power point document and just print them out and leave them in my car. I've used them repeatedly...

Hey DryFire, welcome!

And just some info...if you have a Dunham's near you, you can get a sweet deal on Excalibur bows. Just search for a Dunham's coupon...usually 20% off but once in awhile you can find a 30% off coupon. I did just that last year and got a crazy deal on a Matrix 355.

Re: A Simple Effective Mod...

You can get both the Plasti-Dip (make sure you look at the top of the can for the color, I almost bought yellow!! ) and the pumice grit in the paint section of Home Depot.

A Simple Effective Mod...

Thought I would post a few pics of a mod I just did on my 355. I like being rock solid when I shoot and one of the ways to help achieve that is by having the sling wrapped around my offhand upper arm. The problem I was having is when tension is applied via the sling the buttplate would slip around o...

Re: Slicktricks Don't Spin True

Here is another way to help ensure your SlickTricks, or any broadhead spin true. Instead of holding the arrow horizontally when inserting/tightening your broadhead, hold them vertically. I actually place mine tip down on the workbench and hold the broadhead with the broadhead wrench and spin the arr...

Re: Calling - When to call & how much is too much

X4 with Wabi. I had a buck trotting across the hayfield last Thursday evening at about 200yds. I grunted, got his attention and a few more grunts got him turned and heading my way. Got him 75yds closer before he wandered into the woods again. Thought he would work his way around me but never saw him...

What is your Favorite Camo?

So what camo is everyone using? What are the pros and cons of what you do use? Also, what kind of boots? I have nothing but great things to say about Cabelas Wooltimate Windshear pants and jacket. Super quiet and warm. If I changed anything I would have gotten the bibs. Really need advice on the boo...

Do You Hunt When It's Windy?

It has been windier than crazy here in SE Michigan. Just wondering if its worth sitting in the stand on windy days. Will deer be up and moving or do they bed down and hold tight under these conditions?

Re: Matrix 355 likes a heavy arrow

I have to agree the 355 likes heavy arrows. I am shooting 20" zombies with brass inserts and 125 slick trick Mag's. I'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 450gr and 325fps. I never expected this level of accuracy when I bought the bow. Hitting arrow holes in my bag is no issue when I do my part.

Re: Equipment scent control???

X3, as soon as you exhale you are leaving a scent trail there is just no way to eliminate it so why spend $$ to chase it. Best bet is use the wind to advantage. That being said, I wash my camo without soap and a few extra rinse cycles and store it in a plastic tote. I throw in a handful of maple/oak...

Re: Xcaliber Is A Hell Of A Guy

I'll second that! I was having a problem with serving wear and Dan sent me not only a replacement string he also sent along a camo string made out of Rhino just because we were talking about it. Great guy, incredible service and awesome strings. My black/flourescent yellow BCY Force 10 string really...

Re: Hunting apps for smartphones

My brother in law and I use ScoutLook. You can drop waypoints at your stand locations and it will show wind direction, scent cone, etc. It really helps us determine which stands to use based on wind and our approach to the stands.
