Re: Changing where I aim on a deer.
The shot I took last wknd on my buck was very similar. My arrow went in behind the last rib on the left side and poked out the skin just in front of the right front shoulder joint. Deer went 30yds and stopped thrashing within seconds.

Re: Lighted Nocks or Not?
Lumenok for ZS's is 28gr. The reviews of lighted nocks I've read have the lumenok typically as the brightest. I don't get all fancy I just use my multi-tool long nose pliers to turn them out abut 1/16". I've never had one fail and I save the old ones for spacing during fletching (gives a 7/8&qu...

Love to see that with a steel ferrule. Good blade thickness.

Re: Hang-on & Ladder Stands
Check out the Millennium M150, the most comfortable and solid stand I've ever used. Quiet too. I'm 6'1" and 225lbs and have plenty of room. Platform is giant and it's easy to hang.

Re: Lighted Nocks or Not?
My personal opinion...if you are hunting they are a must. I want to know with absolute certainty where my arrow strikes and in those last few minutes of hunting light that so often are the most productive, and with bows so fast, it is often difficult to see where the arrow lands. Especially if it's ...

Re: Speculation thread on the limbs breaking....
I'm also a mechanical engineer and work with mass produced products. (one of the big three automotive companies. Hint, we don't require government bailouts!) Anyway, I'm perplexed as Excal limbs are not especially exotic. They are not some wonder fiber super limb as far as I'm aware (basically long ...

Re: Matrix Shooting Lubes
I have nothing but good things to say about Scorpion string wax and rail lube. I wax both string and serving lightly, and lube the rail when it appears dry. I never notice any build up with this product when used correctly.

>>Grundy, well, I don't really know how the fp's compare. I don't shoot fp's other than to work on trigger control and breathing. So I sight in for the broadhead of choice, zero my scope, and if fp's don't hit to that poi, I just use Kentucky windage to get them where I want them. It's all about whe...

Re: Project Flying Hatchet Part II..Buck Down!
Thanks everyone! I'm pretty stoked as this is my first big buck. We are thinking 2.5yrs old maybe? I am still kind of amazed at how this all turned out. It happened so fast that from the time I saw him to time I took the shot was probably 30sec. I have only captured this guy on camera at 2-4am. Abso...

Project Flying Hatchet Part II..Buck Down!
Great Michigan fall hunting last night. Beautiful evening sitting in a new location I scouted out last March. New stand is in a big oak on an inside corner of a hay and clover field surrounded by hardwoods. Just after sunset I heard and saw a flash of a deer working its way around me. 10min later th...
