Re: Clean miss on a chip-shot. Couldn't believe it...
I would check for an open window. Might have been someone from PETA who snuck in a loosened your scope  That would make more sense than how 4 bolts got so loose so quickly! But somebody would have to run quite the gauntlet to get in here undetected... unless it was an inside job... Off ...

Yep - this is the plan.strum wrote:Pull the screws and clean them well and the threads to degrease.. used a small amount of blue loc-tite. Tighten using a 3/32" driver in a 1/4" ratchet or nut driver ..let sit over night. Throw the factory allen wrench away.

Clean miss on a chip-shot. Couldn't believe it...
Been a slow season for me so far, with several fruitless hours in the stand. That changed last night when I finally had a big older doe come in and pose broadside at an estimated 35 yards for me. Was hunting from a pop up blind with shoot through screens, seated with a good solid front rest. Breath,...

Re: First deer w/crossbow!
Nice going! Based on stories like yours and some of my own experiences over the last 2 seasons, I'm really gaining respect for the effectiveness and flexibility of getting them from the ground. I'm eager to see if I can repeat the experience. I didn't even have my back to a tree. I was expecting on...

Re: First deer w/crossbow!
Congrats on the first crossbow harvest! :D You know that sometimes they run the wrong way. (further fron the road) When I was around 8 I started in on model rockets. Spent a few weeks building my first one. Went to the park, setup the launcher, tested the wind, adjusted the launcher to ...

First deer w/crossbow!
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/cc101/kallnojoy/20131012_195613_zps7851ad0f.jpg :D 18 yards with my new Excalibur 355 - diablo arrow w/150gr bolt cutter. Was just sitting on the ground along a tree/brush line in some (also new) ASAT leafy camo thinking there is no way he is not gonna spook. Ther...

Pen style laser pointer set on the rails?
You would need to confirm it is projecting parallel to it's body or know it's offset.

Re: Excalibur field points and Broadhead?
For what it's worth, I took my 355 out at lunch today and tested. It's all stock - shooting the Diablo bolts with 150 gr field points and the 150 gr Bolt Cutters. From sitting, using a steady-eddy rest the BH and FPs all grouped the same through 40 yds. At 60 the BHs "seemed" to come in a ...

Nice, minus the overly dramatic lines about draw weight.

Re: New 355 owner
It is all trial and error shooting that is and working out what is best for you and your bow. You are looking pretty good. We use to have a saying hit a pie pan at from 0 to 30 yds and your ready to bow hunt deer. Welcome to the forum :D I know the saying! 20+ years ago when I was a teenager and in...

Re: New 355 owner
Thanks all for the welcome and feedback.
I'll be shooting the heck out of this thing over the coming weeks and hopefully be up to snuff for our xbow season here in Oct.

New 355 owner
New to xbows and jumped into a new 355 after doing a fair amount of research. It arrived yesterday and I was able to begin sighting it in today. Shooting the 18" diablos and 150 gr field points. Curious as to what is considered decent groups at various yardages for hunting purposes? Follows are...
