Re: Leupold crossbone scope covers?
I was going to get some flip-ups for my Leupold VX2, but it came from Danny Miller with a bikini cover. Generally, I prefer the yellow type with polkadots, but these seem to work pretty well. With a little practice, they can be removed with surprisingly little motion. If it's really pouring down rai...

Re: Bolt/Arrow Spine Optimization
I got my three bearings in the mail today and proceeded to mark the weakest spine on each of my 2-dozen, non-custom, BEEs. As you would expect, there's no relationship between the weakest spine and the orientation of the vanes. Next step is to take them to the range and see how they shoot. The first...

Re: Bowtech Stryker Strykezone 350
Swamp Donkey, here's an off-topic question for you. I noticed you have a knots in your cocking rope. I like the idea of something on the rope to keep the hook separated, but I'm concerned knots would weaken the rope too much for my Matrix 380. Did your rope cocker come that way? What brand is it?

Re: Crossbow Calculations
I've added the calculation for momentum into the KE tab since it requires the same inputs.

Crossbow Calculations
I enjoyed setting up the String-Jump calculations in the String-Jump thread so much, that I figured I'd add a few tabs to the spreadsheet with some other simple, pertinent, calculations like FOC, KE and horizontal distance from a tree stand. The spreadsheet is here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com...

Re: Matrix 405 vs 380
Ocella, I think what Hunt It means is that most people on this forum at least think about their crossbow every day if not shoot it every day. Given your reply, I think you would be happy with either of the two bows. In fact, you might want to consider the 330 and the 355 as well. All are equally enj...

Re: Matrix 405 vs 380
Before anyone can give a reasonable opinion, it would be useful to know what you plan to do with the bow. Either is capable of killing about anything you would want to hunt, assuming you plan to hunt. Also, how old are you? How tall are you? Do you have any back problems? At what distance do you pla...

Re: 330 vs 355
pslabaugh, I'm 60 and just bought a Matrix 380 a bit ago. I would say I'm of average strength. I have no back problems. I have no problem at all cocking the 380. So, unless you have a problem lifting, I think you would be just fine with the 355. Since you're new to crossbows, I think it's a good ide...

Re: New 380 owner
I just taped (double-sticky) a short level tube to the front of mine so I know if I'm canting left or right. Maybe after I'm more experienced with the bow, I won't need the level.

Re: String Jump
I was just searching more for info on whitetail reaction time. I still couldn't find anything useful, but I came across something I considered for a moment and then dismissed. In addition to the sound of the bow, the arrow rushing toward the deer also makes noise. Some felt certain that noise from t...

Re: Shooting Stick
Kegbelly, the connection at the top looks good. I outta be able to find hardware like that somewhere. The shock-corded arrow sections should help to speed up setup and take-down. As long as they don't unlock too easily, they should be plenty stable and very light. With inserts at both ends of each s...

Re: Shooting Stick
ch312, I'm intrigued by these. I have some old broken arrows around and I'd like to give this a try. How do you attach the two sticks to form the X at the top? Do you put inserts into both ends of the each section? What's the purpose of the bed-liner spray?
