Re: Canada in the Rough episode disappointment

Sorry, I just spent 5 weeks in Chatsworth, CA, so my view is somewhat jaded. As a bonified hillbilly in the p*rn capital of North America, I was a fish out of water. (I was working an aircraft contract out there, I have nothing to do with that other industry) I met a guy on a albacore tuna fis...

Re: Canada in the Rough episode disappointment

In my opinion, they are all staged or sanitized. I've noticed that you never see a deer with its tongue hanging out like mine do when I come up on them after the shot. Just an observation. Remember, it's TV, nothing is real.

Re: Ready-Shot Knee Pod

I've been looking at this. Is it constructed of aluminum? How does it extend and lock? Great idea!

Re: It's getting close!

I just accepted a contract on the other side of the country from my deer stand. I'm to start a couple of weeks before Missouri deer season. I guess I'll hold off buying my Excalibur until next year. I'm bummed, but have to go where the jobs are. Please post pictures of your hunts, I'll live vicariou...

Re: Nicked

Oh no, I hate seeing this. I have huge hands and long fingers, now I'm paranoid. Is there some kind of guard that can prevent this?

Re: Win a deer call

I'm in! I don't own a crossbow, yet. But I do bow hunt and could put this to good use. Great looking call and fun contest.

As a southern Missouiri boy, you are making me quite homesick. I'm in Los Angeles for another 5 weeks and can't wait to get home.

Re: What would be Your Dream Crossbow Rig ?

I'm a newb, but I think a Blackout 405 topped with a Leupold of some sort would be real close. In the interim, the Blackout 380 will fill my tag..

Re: OT - falling apart / old age

A friend of mine had similar issues, turned out he had Lymes disease from a tick bite. He had heavy antibiotic doses and is a lot better now. They have a simple blood test for it now, you may want to mention it to your doctor. Either way, get well soon, hunting season is coming.

Re: Bow-Mag Arrowheads

I have to admit, it's a novel idea, but a bad fit for me. I would think they are good for one shot and would probably damage the arrow. (I sure hope I'm not stepping on a sponsor or something.)

Re: Decent binoculars

I'm a diehard Leupold optics guy, but chose Vortex for my binoculars. The Vortex Raptors offer a great value for your dollar (or Loonie). I was impressed with their clarity and lifetime warranty. I ended up with one of the HD models, but the Raptor is pretty hard to beat. Do a search on : Vortex Rap...

Bow-Mag Arrowheads

I just saw this on one of those TV hunting shows. At first I thought it was a joke, but evidently someone is really marketing these. It's a big ole blunt looking tip that contains a .38 or .357 cartridge that fires on impact. I'm prone to dropping arrows from cold fingers from my tree stand, so this...

Re: Anti-Theft "Chipping" a crossbow

. . . as far as vehicles go, and some items i don't want it back if they get jacked. they're usually ragged out and if its not you'll have problems down the road  Yep, My old truck has 330,000 miles on it and is always parked with the keys in it. I figure that nobody knows the required names...
