Re: What's the best way to do ground up deer meat?

Before I had to curtail my fat intake, I would add one pound of smoked bacon to every 5 pounds of venison. Remember to mark the packs that were mixed with any kind of fat as this will shorten the freezer life. Adding onion soup mix to two pounds of the ground venison makes a nice burger as well.

Re: Bolt Weight?

I also shoot a Axiom and with the fire bolts and a 125 head was getting 301. I opted to go with 2219 shafts and a 145 head for a finished weight of 485 and a speed average of 284 fps. This offers a quieter shot and great accuracy out to 45 yards along with a bit more punch.

Re: arrow weight

I just did a bunch of experimenting with some old 2219's I cut down to 20". I put 145's on the nose, fletched with 2" blazers and used Omni nocks. They work out to 15% FOC with a weight of 485 grains. Chronoed a average of 284 out of my Axiom and robinhooded the first three shot group at 4...

Re: Shot distance for deer hunting

I'm new to this site, but have been hunting with stick and string for 42 seasons. I have taken deer with Longbow, Recurve and Compound. Hopefully, my crossbow will get some blood on it this year as well. I keep all my shots within the 30 yard mark regardless of my equipment choice. My biggest reason...
