Re: Fixed Broadhead Results for 2016 Season?
I use bolt-cutters 1-1/16" Hunting from a blind with a double lung and the entrance and exit holes are high on the deer, the body cavity fills up with minimal blood trail. Hunting from a tree shooting so the entrance hole is higher than the exit hole, good blood trail. the deer that I made good...

Re: Thinking about the New Grizzly
I am 6'3" 260#, the Grizzly feels good to shoulder and has plenty of power to take any game I would hunt. All my whitetail shots have been 25 yards or less, all pass-through. I am partial to using the stock set up, with the 150 grain bolt-cutters.

Re: Boltcutter Kills
Deer dropped within sight, I did not take pictures. My opinion is: hunting from a ground blind you do not get as good blood trails because the arrow penetrates more or less on the level and the body cavity fills up. Shooting from a tree stand the arrows enters from the top to the bottom, blood leaks...

Also have the Matrix Grizzly, I use the Diablo arrows, with 150 grain boltcutters, harvested 2 whitetails from a ground blind. Love it.

Re: Recommendation for beginner
First, check your local hunting regulations. ( required arrow length, draw weight max or minimums ). Visit your local Excalibur dealer and see which bows fit you well, shoot them and choose the one you like best. Personally I really enjoy my Matrix Grizzly.

Arrow: Exit or No Exit ?
Last summer I purchased a Matrix Grizzly and used it for the fall season. I have not made upgrades or additions to the factory package, and using the diablo arrows and 150 grain bolt cutter broad heads. I have only harvested two whitetails, each deer was hit in the vitals and the arrow passed throug...

Matrix Grizzly
Diablo Arrows
BAT 150 gr. Boltcutters
illuminated nocks
At 20 yards complete pass through on whitetails, then sticks in the earth a few inches.

Re: Buying dad a crossbow.
I hunt WV and purchased the Grizzly. Shot a doe with it this year and got a pass through. I use the 150 Grain fixed blade. Love the bow and it is not difficult to cock using the cocking rope.

Re: How Much Speed Is Really Needed
More variables come at the additional yardage. IMO gaining a few more fps wont make much difference when you consider everything else that comes in to play.
Will it hurt, no. Is it a good excuse to get a new crossbow... Of Course!

Re: most accurate arrow & broadhead
At a target distance of 40 yards, shooting at the same spot.... 150 grain boltcutter with diablo shafts will ruin every arrow you shoot. I shoot using the Matrix Grizzly.

Blood Trails: broadhead or shot angle?
This is my first year of bow hunting of any type. Great information on the board! Hunted with a gun for about 35 years, I hunt from a ground blind or stalk, never have hunted from a tree stand. I am wondering which has greater impact on a blood trail, the broadhead or shot angle? Seems to make sense...

Re: What's in your "kill kit".
Cheap folding knife (when I lose it, not out much), 25' of rope to drag with, and a cheap orange vest to attach to the deer (don't want someone shooting my direction when I take a rest during the drag)
