Re: Slug Gun Question

I have a browning 12 ga. A-bolt slug gun that is extremely accurate at 100 yds. with lightfield slugs. The one I have has the 5" screw in rifled choke tube, not the fully rifled barrel. To me, that gun is pretty well the same as carrying a bolt action rifle as for weight, feel, etc. My buddy ha...

Re: On the way to hunt Maine. Grunt call suggestions?

I'm sure that there are grunt tubes, and then there are grunt tubes! I was using a Knight&Hale Magnum when I hunted in Maine, and it's what I use here in Pa. When one came in behind me up in Maine and grunted, I thought, gee that sounded exactly like my grunt tube. They can be extended and cuppe...

Re: Grunting for Deer

Do not, and I repeat do not put a decoy out this week! That is not a good idea with muzzle loader doe being open and the 3 days of rifle open for us old guys! Just busting, :P I'm sure you know that! If anyone were to shoot the decoy, they should have to eat it also! I'm sure someone will have...

Re: Grunting for Deer

I would say it works, sometimes! I was sitting just over the crest of a ridge overlooking a swamp in Maine when I saw a deer traveling along the edge of the swamp that I couldn't identify as a buck, but it looked to be a good sized deer, and no sooner than I saw it, it was out of sight. Grabbed the ...

Good point about the rattlers, usually not too worried about snakes but also started thinking about rattlers yesterday when I saw a snake behind my garage.

Hillary does not have it, she clearly stated that!
Unnamed sources did report that the Clintons net worth recently jumped from app. 260M to 330M though!
All joking aside, we're in a sad state of affairs at all levels!

Re: Letting bow down?

I'm sure others that may be leery will also read this about using the cocking rope to let it down. Heck I'm ready to turn 69 and find it fairly easy to do it on a Matrix 380, DON"T BE SCARED and always make sure the rope is in the groove in the stock. If you can cock it with the rope, you shoul...

Re: Human Scents scares deer - old wives tale???

I've had to put a lit cigarette down more than once to shoot, last 15 yrs. it's been a cigar! Of course they are upwind and I don't think it matters at all what you smell like, downwind different story. I had a buck broadside at 10 yds. while on the ground last year but not enough horn to be legal. ...

Re: Fellow hunter hypocrites

Not that much better here, thank Gary Alt for starting the ball rolling to decimate the deer herd. When it first started: hey I got 8 doe licenses and this is great, now it's geez there are no deer around except in developments and private property. Most of these hunters didn't think far enough ahea...

Re: Tuff Gettin Old!

Lots of truths on here about getting old. I'm 68 and don't mind being called old, but the term "ELDERLY" scares me! There are 7 Carls that come into a local convenient store, and some of the guys differentiate us by names such as big Carl, bald Carl, etc. WELL, I'm "OLD CARL". :r...

Re: WHat Are Ya changin fer this Season ?

My brand of cigars!
On second though maybe not, had 2 buck at about 10 yds., and one about 20, this past season. More than once I've had deer close and had to put a lit cigar down to shoot while on the ground.
Guess scent block clothing won't work too well for me!
