Re: Binoculars
I couldn't find any light transmission data on the Vortex binoculars even on their site. The Diamond back seems to be the only one similar to the ZenRay in specs and price and it is sort of Vortex's entry level product, all the other Vortex's get more expensive. I have other Vortex products and I li...

Crossbow scopes
I have done a bunch of reading and looking at other threads here on the forum. So I have a question that hasn't presented an obvious answer to me. The Excalibur factory scopes, the Hawke scopes and the discontinued Vortex scope all have yardage drop points marked in the reticle and adjustable for sp...

Re: Binoculars
As this is the most recent thread I found when looking for binocular ideas, I thought I would post here. I went to one of my local gun shops and looked through some 10x42 Steiners and some 10x42 Vortex's. They were bright but I really didn't want 10 power and they are about double in cost of the Zen...

Re: Why did you choose Excalibur?
I wanted to hunt bow season to extend my deer season by a few more weeks. I wanted a bow that I could shoulder and hit the target I want at a reasonable distance without hours and hours of practice. I also wanted a bow with simple, minimal maintenance, and bullet proof, that means Excalibur...

Re: Bass Pro is acquiring Cabelas
I was trying to figure out if I thought this was a good idea or not. If I had to guess, I liked having options. One big company means I have one fewer option...

Thanks. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. I guess I was thinking Gaston was sort of a single source

Re: To Shoot or Not to Shoot???
I wouldn't think it's cold enough there that I would want to let it lay on the ground for 24 hours. If it was really cold like I am sure you get, I might if I thought the 4 legged predators wouldn't get it...
So if you shoot the 6pt your season is over? Even for does?

Re: Alternative to C-2 Crank
I have done a lot of looking at the DrStirrup site, when you get the whole kit is it any cheaper or is it just the three prices totaled? I didn't see a kit price listed any where on the site. If there is no discount for the kit then I will probably buy them piece meal...

Re: Semi Nubie hunting questions
acreek My stand has a double line rail all the way around and is wrapped in a 3d camo fabric. I am only exposed from my shoulders up and the crossbow rest on the shooting rail, which does show more than a rifle barrel. The stand is hung against a large sweet gum that is wider than I am. the sun rise...

Re: Semi Nubie hunting questions
Galamb I leave my stand up all year as it very heavy. It was quite the operation to get it up. We did clear some shooting lanes several weeks ago and that could be the issue. These deer come with in a 100 to 150 yards of our homes, so I agree I wouldn't think scent would be a big issue (dogs & k...

Re: Semi Nubie hunting questions
Xcaliber Thanks for the tips on the stand. This stand is really not moveable and I don't really like climbers. I have used them in the past but I like the security of this stand. The first day out it was 91dF and I don't have a thin face cover. I think that has been one of the problems. The last day...

Semi Nubie hunting questions
So first a little background: I'm 47 yrs old and have only been hunting seriously for about 3 years. I am learning on the fly and by talking to hunting friends, but I didn't grow up in a hunting family. I basically hunt in my backyard. My neighbor owns 13 acres behind our neighborhood that backs up ...

Re: How to unstring?
It's the taking the stringer off and letting the limbs down I am not sure about. Also how do you go about getting the limbs bending to get the stringer back on?
