Re: Rope Burn Anyone?
It has never happened to me before, but it is ONLY because I've heeded the advice of others. Again, I try to keep any and everything from dangling around my neck when shooting a crossbow... An ounce of prevention.. Elitists who neigh-say on safety are the ones who get hurt, but then never say anythi...

My first try at building hunting arrows.
I made three of them and they consist of, from one end to t'other: Lumenok (29gr) NAP Quickfletch 3" Twister (website says 35gr) Black Eagle Executioner shaft. 20" (180gr) Black Eagle aluminum insert (30gr) G5 Striker (125gr) This puts me at 399 grains total weight with an FOC that's just ...

Re: Micro 315
Just bought the Excalibur Micro 315, I'm having problems with accuracy. 20 yards its great, 50 I'm all over, 40 I'm all over, 30 I'm all over. My hubby shot it as well same problem, he has the matrix 355, his shoots great! We both watched the video , twice. Still can't get this to shoot a group pas...

Re: Micro 315
I've gotta agree with the whole screws, thing. Don't ONLY check the screws on the scope rings, check the little screws that hold the rail onto the bow as well.. If any of them are loose, you'll get accuracy to 20, but then you will indeed be all over the place beyond that. Sit back and oogle at any ...

Re: What arrow weight do you prefer?
Most of my current ones are (I THINK) around 405 or 415. I'm going to build some here soon that are right at 399, so I chose the 400gr option.

Re: Hunting From an Elevated Position..
For some reason, I always have a fear of walking too close to a deer in the dark. I think I'd probably mess my britches if a large-bodied animal rubbed up against my elbow, or simply hoofed-off from a close proximity of, say, 2 to 4 feet away.. I don't like using a flashlight when getting to my stan...

Re: Hunting From an Elevated Position..
People's jaws drop when I tell them that I catch and RELEASE them on my hunting property... [; I'm not opposed to killing one for eating it or using the skin to make something, but I don't kill them just "because" like to many others do! I've grown up catching them and keepin' 'em as pets,...

Hunting From an Elevated Position..
I ground hunt a while after it gets COLD! Re: Rope Burn Anyone?
When shooting the crossbow at targets or when I'm hunting, I've always thought of this problem. So I try not to have ANYthing possibly dangling from my neck. Just think about it the possibilities: the little strings that dangle down from a hoodie, a grunt call, binoculars (I know, already mentioned)...

Re: The Close Shot
That deer, Ol' Goofy Horns, is a battery killer and I'm guessing he's between 3 and 4 years old.. I will be very surprised if he made it through this season, because he'd walk around during daylight hours and gave me a couple chances to get him.. So I betcha he's been capped on a neighboring propert...
