Hi Tigerpaw, Not sure what else I can tell you about the home made gravity PVC feeder except deer seem to be avoiding them in my area. I would recommend you set one of yours up and if possible borrow or purchase a trail cam and then point it at it to determine what type of nocturnal animal is eating...

It depends on the situation for me. I have seen many deer within a few yards of my pop up tent blind while turkey hunting. They would have been an easy bow shot for sure. They know there is something new and not quite right in their territory but come in to investigate anyways. It's nice to be able ...

Magical moment
Went out the front door with a pail of ashes this evening at dusk. Walked out to the side yard and came face to face with this years fawn. We were 20 feet apart. I froze and he started to relax, he even ate a bit of grass and sumack from a tree. Young curious deer took a few step towards me. I thoug...

My observations have been that the deer are extremely nervous around the PVC feeders. The buck I shot last week wanted nothing to do with it as he was browsing in the food plot. He kept eyeing the now extrmely fat blue jays and chipmunks as they hit the feeder but never got close to it. It only took...

Amazing, Not so long ago you couldn't get an anterless deer tag as a group even if you tried. All in the name of growing the herd. Now, the population is out of control they say. Who was asleep at the switch? How did it get from one extreme to the other in such a short period of time? Why limit the ...

First I would like to thank everyone for commenting. Secondly, deerman, this was a 2 year old buck, not a yearling like you suggest. How can you comment? Were you hiding in the bush and viewed the kill? I can send you a pic. if you want to get the facts straight. This deer is no slouch. Thirdly, usi...

I shot a spike buck at 35 yards yesterday morning at 7:30 after a thunderstorm at rolled through the area. Is it safe to be up in a tree while one occurs? My hunting buddy did not get a shot off at a 4 pointer standing at 27 yards the evening before when a trespassing springer spaniel from a n...

For the first time in nearly 20 years of moose hunting I did not enter the lotterey draw. It is my way of boycotting an unfair system that now caters to outfitters and special groups in this province. Forcing people to buy a lottery license year after year in order for them to remain in Pool 1 for t...

LeGrand, the property I have access to hunt is a couple hundred meters from the public boat launch across the lake opposite the sea plane base and restaurant. It's all cedar and the deer yard in there for the winter. If you take a drive through there in the winter months you will see them by the sid...

Funny thing is the NCC conservation officers were on my street 3 weeks ago trying to shoo away a sow and her 2 cubs from my neighbors property 6 doors over. It seems that she had taken a shine to the bird feeders in the backyard and were sleeping on their back deck at night. The CO's solution was to...

Teasing me and testing my patience
Driving home from work yesterday afternoon I was about 1 kilometer from home when I noticed 3 toms on the right hand side field heading towards the fence and the road. I stopped the van in it's track and the lead bird started jogging and took flight. He flew across the road about 50 feet in front of...
