Most domestic turkeys are all white. Matter of fact there are several barnfulls not a half mile from here. Must be one that got away or pen raised birds 'interacting' with wild ones.

Actually the anti-fire devices are not fool proof. I recently dry fired my Parker when it 'half-cocked' and I was trying to recock it. I had inadvertently left the sefety off after it wold not fire, the minute I applied pressure with the string cocker, it went off ripping the cocker from my hand and...

Way to go. But I notice no hearing or eye protection protection. Even a 22 causes ear damage each time the shot goes off. Over time it becomes very noticeable.

The weight of the bolt will affect the point of imparct significantly so use the same ones for best accuracy. My Gold tips weigh 370 grs with 100 gr tips; the Bemans weigh 450. They hit to diifferent point on the target. The heavier bolt flies about 20 fps slower.

While I agree that lower brace hight will increase velocity, the weight of the bolt makes a big difference. I am shooting 4 different bolts in two different bows. The Excalibur GoldTip bolts weight 370 grains with 100 gr field tips, Bemas weigh 450grs and are some 20 fps slower.

If they are shooting well with field point but not so with BH,s it may not be the bolt. I had the same problem of bolts flying off into undetermined directions only to find it was the BH. I ws using full sized heads (named after what follows lightning) and missed two buck but not in the same directi...

Wecome. Enjoy your Equinox. You'll find that shortening the cocker rope quite a bit, so that one side is about half way beteen riser than trigger (when the other is hooked), makes it much easier to cock. Hook the string on your strong side, run the other hook around to the weakl side and hold it, th...

Congrats. I gave mine up because it was just oo hard to cock. Wanting the power, I purchased the Vortex, which is a bit shorter and 25 lbs less draw weight. THEN, I learned how to cock it easier. Shorten the rope for the manual cocker so that one hook is approximately half way between the string and...

ffect of Limbsavers on speed

Do using Limbsavers ( soft rubber limb appliques) reduce bolt velocity? I put some on when I purchased my Vortex in case of dry fire. Can't do better than 317 fps (FFF string and 370 gr Gold Tip Lazer II with 4 7/8" vanes. Speed does increase to 322 fps with 4" vanes). I neglected to chron...

As the bible says: "No man can live by one brand alone." (Or something like that.) I love my Vortex. Simple, accurate, good looking. But the Terminator is great too. Narrower, lighter, quieter and has a better trigger. So why choose when you can have it all.

Pydpiper wrote "so logically the farther back they are set the more efficient they would become". In my brief time playing with crossbows I find a lot of things defy logic. I was on the same page as you are...until I saw a bolt assembled with dart veins and two of the vanes were progressiv...

Gary Right now I'm re-fletching bolts with and without nocks for two different bows. So flat-nock-gizmos don't solve the problem for me. I understand what you wrote about the bolt self-centering that doesn't happen for me. The glues I use seem to set up before the bolt with moon nocks shifts from ca...
