Another option is the Hastings barrel for the 870.
I find the quality of the Hastings a bit better and the price is comparable.

I use a Garmin eTrex Vista CX it costs a little over $300 cdn. It works great and you don't need to worry about memory size, because it has removable microSD cards. You can put in Topo and road maps. I agree with most of what you are saying however, If you buy a cheap tv from Walmart you would expect it to work.
