Congratulations. By all means take the archery course. I'm not familiar with the one in New Brunswick, but if it's any good it will advance your understanding of archery hunting. You will also get a lot of good solid information here too. Don't hesitate to ask questions. The only bad question is the...

I misunderstood you Mike. I thought you wanted the string to lead you to the deer.

Now I've got it. You want to use it to reel him back to you out of the bog. I sure wasn't smart enough to think of that!

For sure let us know how it works.

Mike

What the heck do you want one of those things for? Get yourself one of those tracking 'gators. They're legal, even if you can't use a dog! They'd be a natural in that much water. :D :D :D

my safety belt is made from an old seatbelt, i push the button and im out of it You might not be able to do that with your weight on the system. The seatbelt buckle may be locked so tight with your weight on it that it can't be unbuckled. People have drowned in overturned vehicles because they coul...

Why can't dogs be used for blood tracking?

Here in Manitoba it is an offence under the Wildlife Act to use dogs in any fashion for hunting big game. Reading Camper's thread and all the posts about lost game sure is saddening, though not a surprise. It's happened to me. I understand that the rule may be intended to prevent people from using d...

Gerald If the broadheads are otherwise the same, the heavier one will penetrate deeper. With the Slick Trick the 125 grain is slightly larger in the cutting diameter, and that would tend to make it penetrate less. However, the penetration gain caused by the extra weight tends to off set the loss cau...

I know how you feel, Camper. I though I had lost an elk last year, archery hunting. I found it next morning, thank goodness, and it was still fine. Maybe you need to spend more time on your shooting lanes. If you do your work early enough before season, you can clear out good wide lanes without spoo...

I use the 125 Slick Tricks with Gold Tip bolts in my Exomax. The accuracy is fine, and if anything, I just wish they had a larger cutting diameter. They'll do a complete pass through on a rib shot-elk at 30 yards.

Bowhunter 4334 You said to go ahead and laugh. I couldn't even if I wanted. The "pucker factor" has all my skin so tight I couldn't even break out a smile. Glad you're healed now...one year older and a lot wiser, no doubt. (Good for you for sharing. You just might have spared someone else ...

Hey, now this is an interesting topic!

What brand/model is recommended? What features are desirable/unnecessary? How much should one have to pay to get a decent model?

Are you only going to use it for archery related purposes? Do you have good, compact, binos? I've owned two different models of Bushnell laser rangefinders. They're OK. I now have the Leica 1200 Scan model, and although it is pricey, it's the best buy for my purposes. I can use it as well in firearm...

I suspect this "scent pool" thing may be a bit more complicated tahn it seems. If the ambient air temperature was lower than air molecules that have been in contact with your body, the air molecules carrying your scent, should rise, at least for a time. They should rise until they reach th...

So that's what happened to the bow that the fellow in Michigan ran over? It's nice to see that it didn't go to waste, at least. Still, you'd think they would have put all the pieces together right. There's holes in it and pieces sticking out all over.

Let's hope it will shoot.

Mule and Mountain lion photos

Recently there were some photos posted of a mule allegedly killing a mountain lion. Here's a link to a follow up on that story.

EDIT

I hope people are reading the WHOLE article. The mule was apparently attacking a DEAD cat!!
