Re: poachers got what they deserved
In Illinois, up until the 60's, the game warden job was a local political appointment. Everytime the dems lost and the repubs won, or vice-versa, we got a new game warden. They are too new for there to be many used ones for sale. Maybe warranty returns that have been "repaired"? Watch out! Gary

Re: poachers got what they deserved
The judge should have sent them into the woods dressed like deer during deer season. What's to stop them poaching when it's not deer season? Gary

Re: My first stock build
That's a real nice piece of wood. It didn't look all that fancy until you put the finish on it. Good job! Be sure and scratch your name and the date on it somewhere like down in the channel. It might be around many years after you're gone. Gary

Re: First Groundhog
I wish we still had groundhogs to shoot. The coyotes have made them nearly extinct around here. Haven't seen one in years. Gary

Re: Snakeheads
All we have to do to get rid of the asian carp and the snake heads is say they are a delicacy . if that doesn't work we should turn them into mystery fillet o fish burgers  In all seriousness , if these fish are so plentiful ; fish them commercially . Sell them back to China , process them fo...

What brand and color of stain did you use? Whatever it was it really brought out the fiddleback and is a rich, warm color. Gary

You've got a great start. I'd also wait on hollowing out the butt. My finished stock weighs only 7 oz. more than the factory stock. Gary

Super knife and a scarey claw. I thought the claw was a sheath for the knife at first. Any way you could turn the claw into a sheath?? Split it in half and use the halves for scales on a sheath made from something else? I'm just trying to come up with something so you will have more to do! 8) Gary

That's a nice one! I've never worked any hard maple. I'm sure going to have to keep my eye out for some. I like the space age style too. Buck Rogers with a crossbow. Gary

Great! I hope that doesn't happen again. I can't take the drama.
And that silver tongued Scott Sumner...you know, I'll bet he's got a good lookin' wife.
