Re: Scent eliminating sprays... Do they work?

I think it's a gimmick to take your money. The best scent cover I ever had was when I was hunting at a horse farm. The hired man backed the manure spreader up to the tree I had my stand in and dumped a load. I had deer right under my tree several times and was never busted. I try to watch the wind, ...

Re: member request

A primitive bowmaker...that's great! I made an osage bow once but never sinew backed it. I never shot it, it's just a wall hanger. I know quite a few people that shoot homemade bows, though, and in the past I supplied them with flint points to use with their self bows. I knapped flint for 23 years. ...

Re: Illinois Trail Cam Pics (Updated 9/7)

Here are some new pics. The big buck hasn't showed up lately but this 8 pointer with stickers has. He looks pretty nice but will be better next year. The twin fawns I've been seeing all summer across the road finally showed up. I guess mom's making the rounds with them now. I must have hit the switc...

Re: I found a scope I LIKE!

Hi aging,
I picked up a new scope too. My eyes are not what they used to be. I'm having trouble finding a mount, though. Gary

My normal shot is 20 yds. The farthest I shoot at deer is 25 yds., no exceptions. I never miss. Gary

I would imagine that opening up the trigger ass'y will void your lifetime warranty. For me, that's too valuable to lose. Gary

Re: Transporting a crossbow

If Excalibur made their bows in a take-down model it would be awesome. Push a button and the riser pops off. I've even thought about modifying mine to do just that. Nice job on adapting the case. Gary

Re: A couple alligators...

Tanned gator hides. I'd cut a couple of strips off the tanned hide and glue them to the limbs of my bow with hide glue. Florida camo. 8) Congrats on the gators. I think I'll stick to deer! Gary

Re: How important is ARC?

Looks like I am going to need to stay on level ground. Oh yeah, I wasn't 20 feet up, only 10. But, I had no rangefinder, no harness, barely had a piece of plywood to stand on . . .it's a wonder I'm here at all. You and me both. I hunted out of an original Baker Climbing Stand in the early 7...

Re: ground blind or tree stand???

I love being in a tree stand watching the woods come alive in the morning. I use the tree stand as long as there are leaves on the trees. Once Nov. comes and the trees are bare, I'm on the ground. The deer around here look up in the trees and will spot you in a heartbeat once the leaves are gone. I ...

Re: Wooden Stock

I made one from scratch and am working on another one. I think if you had a gunstock with enough wood on the front end it could be done. You'd have to have enough to cut a 1 1/4" wide channel. Your problem will come when you go to use your cocking rope. The crossbow stock has a "lug" ...
