Grizzly, your experience with archery equipment pretty much mirrors mine. I own longbows, recurves and compounds. Like Grandtrout said the recurve (or the longbow) is the most fun to shoot. However time has taken a toll on me and I can no longer devote the effort needed to shoot a stick bow instinct...

As I have mentioned before I use the fluff from milk weed pods as a wind indicator. I store them in film canisters or pill bottles. I dry them in onion sacks so they don't fly all over the shop. I have used the tampons for years. I always thought that was what the string was for :D  . I put a ...

I have a Penthouse which is real big. It's a bit of a pain to fold back up until you get the hang of it. I have heard of several people who have set up a ground blind and had deer near it with in minutes. They tend to ignore the blinds.

Interesting concept :). I had thought of putting cutting blades just ahead of the fetching to aid in pass through, but never doing away with fetching entirely. :?: Would these bolts be able to be used on current production Excaliburs? To answer your question, I have no idea what type of groups I cou...

The mole spears traps work but getting rid of the grubs is the best over all solution. Like mentioned it is a bit late in the season for the grubs. I would try the wirly gigs for now and maybe the mole spear trap.. In the spring work on the grubs.

I wouldn't take the shot just like I wouldn't take a shot past 300 yards with a rifle even though I can hit a milk jug at 500 with my 25-06. There are just too many things that can happen that are beyond your control. Even if the deer doesn't jump the string it can take a step and the arrow will hit...

Don't be too hard on yourself. The very fact that you came here and expressed how bad you felt shows that your an ethical hunter. In my opinion you did everything that you could. You practised with your equipment until you felt confident in it. You took what you considered a high percentage shot. Yo...

I hunted with the Vixen the first time last night. I have never tried uncocking by hand while practicing but thought about it last night. It dawned on me how easy that doing just that very thing could be. I decided to shoot the bolt with the field point on it. (almost couldn't find the bolt it burie...

You probably know this but be sure to put the loctite on the male threads of the screw and not in the hole. That could give you problems with your trigger.. Bill T explains this in the video.

GaryL thanks for the link. Very interesting site. I wonder if there are any metal detecting forums like this one for crossbows. It might be interesting to join one. I know even less about metal detectors than I did about crossbows when I joined here :D

I prefer blue and hot pink. You just don't see that combination in nature

The ones I bought off E-Bay have red and black. the same guy had some lime green and white that I wish I would have got. :(
