Thanks

I was concerned that I might have something that might cause wear to the rail itself.

Rail wear question

Has anyone shot their bow enough to actually wear the coloring off of the rail? I am getting wear on the nock end of my arrows where they sit in the rails but no wear anywhere else on the arrow. I sent some arrows to Horizontal Archery and he said that was perfectly normal. I am actually wearing my ...

I am thinking that lots of folk here shoot carbons with no troubles. I also remember a post where someone was shooting carbons with feathers. That would be light and I believe they were talking of excellent 40 yard accuracy. I would not think your carbons would be "TO LIGHT" to fly consist...

The FOC with the vanes is right at 8.75%.
The FOC with the feathers is right at 10.25&.

With field points or deployable blade heads, the vanes will shoot with the feathers out to 40 yards. With the 4 blade Muzzy 100 grain, the feathers are somewhat more accurate and with better arrow flight.

What ComfyBear said. I am still shooting the string that came on my Vixen when I got it in march of 2005. I found a wax called Barnett's LubeWax. I now use it on the serving and loops. No problems or failures of any kind. As I used to make flemish twist strings for my traditional bows, I have the eq...

On a Redding scale they weigh an average of 455 grains and come out of my Vixen at 260 fps avereage. I have limb savers and cat whiskers for viberation dampening. My favorite setup is the exact ...

Bow stringer broke!

I was putting the string on my Vixen with the Excal bow stringer. One of the plastic over the limb cups split down the middle. It made my fingers feel real good as I was just slipping the string into the grove. I super glued it back together but am chicken to use it again. :( Is this ...

I put the large Sims limb-savers on the sides of the rail just below the string, centered on the string. I have the large limb-savers on the belly of the limbs as far out as ...

Rich I used an Easton ballistics calculator program. It lets you enter the length of the arrow, fletch type, fletch height, helical or not, arrow weight, and arrow launch speed. IF you have a chrono it also lets you input actual chrono speeds at any given yardage then calculates for any yardage beyo...

Lets say you have a 380 grain arrow leaving your bow at 300 fps. If you have 5 inch plastic vanes and a good vented or mechanical broadhead, you time of flight to 50 yards would be .521732 seconds. The sound of your shot would arrive in .13636 seconds. That would give the deer .38537 seconds to reac...
