arrow speed

Thanks for the info. The arrows are off the rack GT's. Flat nocked. I'm not sure what they weigh, but you've given me some ideas here. I'm not necessarily interested in more speed - 300 fps is plenty for the deer I'm hunting. I was curious though about the difference between the GTs and the new Fire...

Excal Arrow Speed

After a cold, damp and unproductive morning of turkey hunting last week, I drove up to Kitchener to The Bow Shop for target practice and make some setup adjustments. While there, I used a chrono to test arrow speeds. Here are the numbers for those who are interested: I'm using a standard Exocet 200,...

John - Hi. I'm hunting public land owned by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. I've registered with the NPCA, have paid a fee and have their written permission and dashboard permit. There's some beautiful areas there and my scouting the past several months has turned up lots of sign. I've...

turkey hunting - niagara area - frustrating

I called the MNR today to aks if Sunday gun hunting for turkeys was permitted in WMU 89b (West LIncoln - Caistorville, Ont). The person in the field office said, "I think so." I asked if he could take the think out of that statement. He said. "Yes. You can gun hunt in Caistorville on ...

Poll - deer population - story in Hamilton Spectator

Readers are lighting up our newspaper website with comments about our Saturday story on deer. We have a poll question about controlling the deer population. The question is: "Deer are growing to be a nuisance in some urban areas. Should steps be taken to reduce the population? Take the poll and...

Madmax - The photo was taken in the woods off Mohawk Road just east of the 403 so it's highly likely it's the same buck. Residents say there are over 50 deer in that area. The photo on tomorrow's front page is taken in the same area.

deer photos -

The photos are from Spectator readers. Tomorrow we are publishing a large story on the deer population and how some suburban areas are overrun. We will have a large web presence with several photos. It's worth checking out the story and pix tomorrow at -- thespec.com

Cheers,

Hamilton - deer photos

I work at the newspaper in Hamilton and recently asked readers for pix of wildlife in their backyards. We want to do a story on urban wildlife and deer population out of control. Here is a small selection of what they sent. I thought I'd share -- check out the big buck in pix #2. Cheers, Jp http://i...

photo sizing

I'm looking for help with posting photos. How do I determine the size. When I use photo bucket and toggle the resize options, nothing seems to happen --- all the photos come out small on the message board. When I create my photos in Photoshop, do they need to be a certain size say 5x7 or certain pix...

bolt box

The box is made by a Canadian company in Toronto. It's called Jobmate.
The size of the box is 23 3/4 inches long by 8 3/4 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches deep.
I have better photos but for some reason I can't post them and make them larger.

Bolt box - do it yourself

Hi. Saw some posts a while back about a $12.99 tool box available at Canadian Tire. I picked one up and with some foam from the IT department at work converted the tool kit to a bolt box. Mine holds six bolts (four are shown) and has room for broadheads, extra strings, rope cocker, wax and other acc...

Niagara deer - news story about arrowhead in scapula

Interesting reading in St. Catharines Standard newspaper today. Story about deer bone with arrow tip found in deer bone. I've posted the web link here - I'm not sure how to capture the story and photo another way. The print story shows the arrowtip - unfortunately that photo is not posted to the web...
