After you've just shot a deer it's a breeze. I have a 175# bow felt like 10# at the moment.

Forgot to mention he's a 7 point if you include one point that's only about 1 1/2 inch. If not it's a 6 point which is just great.

First Buck

Well after many years of deer hunting 22 to be exact it finally happened. The jinx is broken I took my first buck tonight. Not a huge trophy buck by any means but I couldn't be any more thrilled. Was one of those last minute hunts too. The kids had swimming lessons tonight and it wasn't even on my m...

My one and only was 30 yards. I'd say overall with guns is 45.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my grandfather this year and it's different to not be able to tell him about the hunts. Everytime I go out though I take something of his with me just so he's still part of the sport he enjoyed so much.

There are some big fish in the lake if you know where to go and I wish I could tell ya the spots. The eye population was in real trouble a few years back, not sure if I'd be keeping them. Do see a lot of guys fishing by the high falls dam.

I always thought the same as you, know the land well not going to waste time scouting. After a few moose hunts with no meat at the end I and others in the gang decided more scouting is in order. This year we scouted more than we did in the last 3 hunts combined. Man it pays off. All the miles wander...

I hate littering as well. This year when moose hunting though I must say I was impressed. All the roading ans scouting we did and I think I only saw one pop can. We were archery hunting in Geraldton and in years past we saw lots more trash. Not sure if people are finally getting neater or someone pi...

Best tip I can give is lots of scouting and getting to know your area. I understand by reading your posts you are familiar with the area you hunt but it never hurts to scout. If the weather stays warm hunt the water. And one more thing leave the beer in camp :D
