Last week I filled up with $2.939. Haven't been to town since so don't know until tomorrow. Good to see it coming down but it wasn't long ago we were really groaning at $3.00 per gallon...

We also pack ours in pints now but use quarts when we give to our son. We also used to pack lightly into the jars with a pinch of salt but now my wife packs it in. I mean she really stuffs it in there, making sure to get any air bubbles out. She says it does a better job that way but it all tastes g...

We only add the salt. You can doctor it up dozens of ways when you open the can. The way I like it best is to put a big bunch of oleo in a pan, put in the venison and just warm it up almost to the point of browning it. Delicious, but that is only one way. Another way: my wife likes to open a can and...

Does anyone do their venison this way?

Reading the thread on cost for butchering got me wondering. 1. How many cut up their own deer? 2. Does anyone can their venison? We have always cut up our own deer and years ago we started canning most of the venison. Sure, we do save out a few steaks, but canning really makes the meat tasty indeed....

I too am a believer in the Thermacell. Best invention since sliced bread. As for a cloud of smoke, I rarely even see smoke from ours and then only when you first put a new pad in. As for the noisy starting. We turn ours on, wait about 10 seconds then one click will light it. I've talked to a few doz...

Ray, that is always a difficult time but it sounds like she has a good attitude about it. That certainly does make it easier. Prayers sent.

Hey, I got my first senior license last year! Now they are talking about doing away with the senior license because of lack of dollars. Wouldn't that figure?! Hopefully though, they will see the light and finally allow crossbows. It is difficult to figure them out. They keep coming up with more and ...

Bob, I decided to check right away. It has changed committees in the Senate is all that has happened so far. Here's one quote off Michigan Sportsman: "Not only is there a new senate committee with a true hunter at its head considering the bill but the nrc is reconsidering their position. Perhap...

We had 80 two days but today was much nicer. Mostly in the 50's but did get into the low 60's late in the afternoon. We've lost a lot of leaves in the last 3 days. Getting harder to hide out there.

Naturally. I'll let you know if it happens again. I also was under the understanding that with the rope cocking device it would not cock off center. We'll keep trying.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to get ready to go out hunting. Good luck everyone and thanks!
